Today, May 12th, marks both the close of Nurse's Week and the birthday of Florence Nightingale - the woman whose vision transformed nursing into a respected, evidence-based profession. CRNAs are a living extension of that legacy by delivering expert anesthesia care, advocating for patients, and pushing the profession forward, every single day. Happy birthday, Florence - the lamp is still lit. 🕯️💙

Happy Mother’s Day from the Delaware Association of Nurse Anesthetists 🌷

Today we celebrate and honor all of the incredible mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, mothers-to-be, and maternal figures within our CRNA community and beyond. Thank you for the compassion, resilience, leadership, and care you bring to your families, your patients, and your profession each and every day.

The dedication you show both at home and in healthcare inspires those around you and strengthens our profession in countless ways.

Wishing you a beautiful Mother’s Day filled with love, appreciation, and time spent with those who matter most. 💕

Happy Mother's Day 💐

The woman on the left is my mom, Julie. Cardiac nurse. Evansville, Indiana. Over 41 years of practice and just now thinking about retirement.

I was in grade school when I first shadowed her, watching her round on chest pain patients, move them into the cath lab, and work tirelessly on behalf of others on the worst days of their lives. I didn't know it fully then, but I was watching someone show me exactly what this profession could be.

I found my own path into nurse anesthesiology, but she was and has always been the inspiration.

This profession has been radically shaped by maternal figures. Alice Magaw, the "Mother of Anesthesia," practiced at my alma mater, Mayo Clinic, and set the standard for evidence-based anesthesia care, and left a lasting legacy.

I've also been blessed with amazing mentors and preceptors who gave me their time, their knowledge, and their belief before I had earned any of it. You know who you are.

To every mother, nurse, and CRNA who inspired someone without knowing it, thank you.

Happy Mother's Day, Momma King 👑

Rural healthcare depends on access to anesthesia care and CRNAs/nurse anesthesiologists are often the only providers keeping surgical, obstetric and emergency services available in underserved communities.
