The Roseburg area offers shelter options and other resources for homeless individuals and families that can be accessed throughout the year.
The Roseburg Rescue Mission, based at 752 S.E. Pine St., offers overnight shelter, meals, showers, clothing, a dayroom and laundry to homeless women, children and men. The mission offers more than 230 beds and an additional 58 cots. At least 100 beds are always open.
The City-owned Gary Leif Navigation Center currently has a 55-bed capacity as well as 40 residential units primarily used for recovery from drug addiction and alcoholism. The Center also offers wraparound services.
Adapt Integrated Health Care operates a 52-bed motel that has been undergoing renovation and prioritizes helping those with mental health needs, plus 14 beds at Progress Point.
Peace at Home Advocacy Center, FARA (Family Faith and Relationship Advocates) and Tasha’s House opened a youth housing campus dubbed “The Lotus Pad” last spring. The 1.2-acre campus near Eastwood Park offers low-income housing and an emergency shelter for 18- to 22-year-olds. During severe winter weather, United Community Action Network teams up with St. Joseph's Catholic Church to open the Roseburg Warming Center inside the church gym at 630 W. Stanton St.
The Oregon Department of Human Services hosts “First Thursday” events offering information about a range of free services and community-based programs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at ODHS, 738 W. Harvard Ave.
Also, the Connecting Point program managed by eight community partners offers a mobile navigation program bringing showers, food and wraparound services to 7 locations throughout the county on weekdays.
The program is offered at 3 Roseburg spots: Roseburg Dream Center (10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Mondays), Seventh Day Adventist Church (10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesdays) and Gaddis Park (12 to 3 p.m. Thursdays). More: https://tinyurl.com/4h33j3dk
The Roseburg Dream Center at 2555 N.E. Diamond Lake Blvd. is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays. The center offers a free clothing boutique on Monday evenings, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a food pantry on Mondays and Wednesdays. The center also helps meet immediate needs for supplies such as tents, tarps and sleeping bags.
