Thank you, City of Roseburg Government! With your help we are helping over 450 children with gifts for Christmas!
Thank you to all the City employees and residents who are participating in gift drives to bring joy to local children this holiday season!
Roseburg City employees donated children’s pajamas to Douglas County CASA’s Pajama Drive and are also donating gifts of children’s clothing, toys and supplies for The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program after City participation was organized by City Human Resources Generalist Autumn David to “give back to our community.”
City employees and residents are fulfilling 25 Salvation Army Angel Tree tags this year. The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program provides gifts of new clothing and toys to over 260 children in Douglas County who otherwise might not have anything for Christmas. Children who are recipients of Angel Tree gifts are from families who have applied for assistance through the Social Services Program of The Salvation Army.
While CASA has already picked up a donation box half full of new pajamas, City employees and residents have until Tuesday, Dec. 16, to return gifts for children benefitting from the Angel Tree program.
Today, Roseburg Police Department Staff Assistant Kendall Goodman dropped off holiday presents for three kids aged 3, 4 and 11 on behalf of the Roseburg Police Employees Association, the union that represents Roseburg Police Officers.
Earlier this week, Goodman had picked up the City’s last two Angel Tree tags, and then on Tuesday night, Goodman, Evidence Technician Donetta Cooper and Police Records Specialist Joleen Teddy went shopping to fulfill the kids’ wish list with $300 the union donated to help make the kids’ holiday dreams come true. The three RPD employees picked up a third Angel Tree tag at Walmart that they happened to find down one aisle, and, with about $45 left over, plan to pick up a fourth this week from the Salvation Army.
Reminder: If you’ve picked up an Angel Tree at City Hall’s Administration Department, the deadline to City Hall with new, unwrapped gifts for those children is Tuesday, Dec. 16.
Roseburg Police Officers will participate in a “Shop with a Cop” event for local foster children at Walmart this Saturday. That event is funded by donations provided by Christmas for Kids of Douglas County, Walmart and local residents. To donate, email [email protected] or call 541-680-5365 or 541-430-3453.
