United Community Action Network Our mission is simple yet profound "Creating solutions to poverty, improving lives in our community."

UCAN is determined to increase prosperity and wellness within our communities by deploying services and programs that target needs such as housing and homelessness, food security, energy efficiency, child development and veteran services. We help stabilize local residents’ lives by helping them address their basic life needs and then equipping them with skills, resources and opportunities to exit poverty.

Applications are now open to host a project for our 5th annual Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 24, 2026! This national day of service is a great opportunity to connect with volunteers and showcase your organization’s impact.

We’re looking for 3-hour service projects (9am–12pm), and our Make a Difference Day Planning Committee will help with volunteer recruitment and coordination. Apply at the link below by June 30th πŸ’™

Together, our participating restaurants raised an amazing $5,542.55 for the UCAN Food Bank, while an additional $3,125 was contributed through in-kind gift card donations for the community and media sponsorships. Every cheesy creation sold made a difference in our local food security efforts!

Congratulations to The Friendly Kitchen/ Meals on Wheels Roseburg for creating the crowd favorite cheesy creation, as voted on by our community!

πŸ† Big Cheese Award
Congratulations to Jackson Street Provisions for selling the highest number of cheesy creations during the event, an incredible 600 sandwiches sold!

πŸŽ‰ And congratulations to Elizabeth, who visited 13 participating restaurants and collected the most passport stamps! She also won the grand prize drawing of $150 to Sherm's Thunderbird.

🌽πŸ₯• Farm Direct Nutrition Program checks are now available for eligible participants!

Starting June 1, eligible participants can pick up their Farm Direct checks at the Roseburg WIC office. The WIC team will also be out in the community throughout the month - see the dates below. Supplies are limited, so be sure to get yours while they last!

The Oregon Farm Direct Nutrition Program is a state-administered, federal nutrition program serving families enrolled in the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program and income-eligible seniors. Participants receive vouchers that can be used to purchase fruits, vegetables, and cut edible herbs directly from participating farmers at local markets and farm stands from June through November (Participating farmer directory: www.myoregonfarm.farm)

Support local farmers while enjoying fresh, nutritious food grown right here in Oregon! πŸŒ±πŸ“

The Klamath & Lake County Stand Down is happening June 12, 2026, at the Klamath County Fairgrounds in Klamath Falls. This free event is open to all veterans, active-duty service members, and their dependents.

Services may include:

βœ”οΈ Haircuts and clothing
βœ”οΈ Eye exams and glasses
βœ”οΈ Substance use and mental health support
