Umpqua Valley Wineries The Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua, Oregon's oldest fine wine region--where winemakers and vignerons are often found in the tasting room.

Choose from 50+ grape varieties and diverse, authentic wine experiences set within our breathtaking landscapes. The modern era of grape growing in Oregon began in the Umpqua Valley with the first commercial planting of fine wine grapes northwest of Roseburg in 1961. Today, family owned artisan wineries are creating wines of distinctive quality and character that are receiving international acclaim for the Umpqua Valley. The complex topography of the Umpqua Valley, formed by the convergence of three mountain ranges of varying ages and structure, contributes to the occurrence of varied soil types and the many sub-valleys known as the Hundred Valleys of the Umpqua. The rich diversity of landscapes and climates provide a wide range of conditions needed to produce an exciting array of grape varieties. The cooler valleys allow varietals such as Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Riesling to flourish while the warmer valleys include Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah, Tempranillo, and Grenache. Overall, the Umpqua Valley is Oregon’s most complex wine growing region. The region’s unrivaled natural beauty, thunderous waterfalls, covered bridges, wildlife viewpoints, as well as the warm hospitality of the locals provides an idyllic destination. Attention all artists, we are calling upon you!

This year the Umpqua Valley W**egrowers Association are holding two art competitions to pair together art and w**e, well, because what is one without the other?

The winners art will be auctioned at the Greatest of the Grape event in February with proceeds going to UVWA programs, but more importantly the artist themselves.

Congratulations to Abacela W**ery for coming in at #9 on W**e Enthusiast's Top 100 Best Buys for 2026 with their beautiful 2025 Grenache Rosé from the Umpqua Valley!

Over 25,000 w**es $20 or less were reviewed, proving there are absolutely fantastic bottles worldwide that offer amazing value.

This same w**e was the big winner at Greatest of the Grape in March 2026, when it was awarded as the Best Overall as well as the Best Non-Red W**e of the evening.

Calling all Artists and Makers!

In support of our local creative community, we are launching a Postcard Art Competition, and infusing art in the Greatest of the Grape Silent Auction.

Seventy percent (70%) of the proceeds from the sale of each artwork go to the artist, while the remainder will directly support our nonprofit mission and programs.
