From its beginnings in 1919, it has become a renowned worldwide service organization with over 1,200 clubs located in over 67 countries and geographical areas around the world. Our local Zonta club was organized in May of 1947 and has been going and growing ever since. Zonta International continues to be on the front lines of the fight for women's equal rights through local and global projects tha

t promote economic self-sufficiency, political equality, access to education and health, and the prevention of violence against women.

The Zonta Club of Roseburg held its final Business meeting and social activity on May 8, 2026. We toured the murals of Roseburg and club member Grace farenbaugh took us on an interesting and educational tour of the murals and told ghost stories on the walk. We ended the afternoon with lunch at Alexander's Greek Cuisine. The food is excellent and the owners have been a big supporter of the club for many years. Thank you Grace for the wonderful ending to a truly wonderful club.

Congratulations too to Gracelynn Schartz of Glide HS who also received an award, but was unable to attend the celebration. The future is in good hands!

Every year our club conducts a Dignety Drive collecting personal care items and undergarments for the women and girls, in the Douglas County community, who are in need. This year we collected four large bags if items. Agencies who are receiving bags of items are Adapt, Safe Haven, Samaritan House and Peace at Home.
