While many people were enjoying a quiet Saturday morning, our volunteers were already putting in the work to better serve our community. 🚒

This weekend's training, led by Chief Wolf, focused on on-scene initial reports, district familiarization, and the importance of strong incident command. Knowing how to provide clear, accurate information when first arriving on scene and having a solid understanding of our district are critical to making informed decisions and ensuring a safe, effective response.

In a rural community, every call is different, and being familiar with our roads, landmarks, water sources, and resources can make all the difference.

Thank you to Chief Wolf for leading another valuable training and to all of our volunteers who gave up part of their Saturday morning to continue learning and preparing. Your commitment helps ensure we're ready when our neighbors need us most.

Today, our department says goodbye to two of our founding members, Faye Packard and Roy Ross.

Their dedication, hard work, and belief in this department helped build the foundation we stand on today. We are forever grateful for the time, service, and support they gave to our community.

We especially remember Faye for the countless pies she baked to help raise funds during the department's early years. If you were lucky enough to enjoy one of her coconut cream pies, you know they were second to none. Her legacy of service continues through her family. Her late husband Jim, son Kenny, grandson Cory, our current Assistant Chief, and two great-grandsons, Corbin and Logan, have all proudly served this department in roles ranging from firefighter to Fire Chief.

Please keep both families in your thoughts and prayers as they lay their loved ones to rest today. From all of us at the department, thank you for everything you gave to this community.

Nothing says “weekend” quite like rolling out of bed before the sun to spend Saturday morning pumping engines.

Our firefighters spent Saturday morning training, moving water, testing equipment, and confirming that coffee remains a critical piece of emergency apparatus.

Thanks to everyone who showed up and put in the work. Sleep was sacrificed, skills were sharpened, and the engines did exactly what they were supposed to do.

Great training today with the department working on VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search). These skills are critical for getting to victims quickly and making a difference when it matters most.

A big thank you to Firefighter Withey and Chief Wolf for once again leading an excellent, hands-on training. We appreciate the time, knowledge, and dedication you both bring to helping us sharpen our skills and stay ready.
