Friends of the Romeo District Library

Friends of the Romeo District Library The Friends of the Romeo District Library is a non-profit organization that stimulates community appreciation of the library’s resources and services

The support of the Friends helps the Library to offer services above and beyond those services funded by tax support. Recent projects have included the purchase of puppets, new furniture, and software for the children’s library and support for special reading programs and other events. The Friends is an all-volunteer organization. Community members and Library patrons who volunteer and donate can

see their support going directly to the Library. Friends’ events not only raise funds, but raise public awareness for the excellent programs and services offered by the Romeo District Library. Our featured fundraising event is the Romeo Area Garden Walk, which is a tour of several of the most innovative and beautiful gardens in our community. We have joined forces with Starkweather Art Center and are now able to feature en plain artists at each garden and celebrate the day at Starkweather's Moonflowers event where the owners of the featured gardens can see the paintings done earlier that day.

The Kezar Krew did a fantastic job of reorganizing the used book store over the past few weeks. A special shout-out to the young adult/juvenile/children's section, pictured here. Beautiful job, Kuties!

The Friends' used book store at the Graubner branch of the Romeo District Library will be closing by the end of March to make way for the major expansion/renovation of the branch through the coming year. (We look forward to reopening in spring of 2027, bigger and better than ever).

The $1 bag sale is still going on, with good buys to be had in several fiction and nonfiction categories, as well as music CDs and audiobooks on CD.

**************** BREAKING NEWS ****************

A VERY SPECIAL SALE bengins March 1, with our seasonal "friends" on sale for only $2 per piece --a STEAL, if you check out the current prices in Salvation Army. Additionally, an assortment of decorative items (on the floor below the holiday table) is on sale for only 50 cents per item or bag.

NOTE: Graubner is closing, but the Kezar book store remains open and accepts donations of books and media in good condition.

Graubner accepts payments in cash, check, debit and credit cards.
Kezar is cash and check only.

The bookstores are open to the public during branch hours: you do NOT have to be a library card holder or resident. Spread the word!

The first week of the Graubner used book store $1 bag sale was AMAZING! THANK YOU, shoppers! We have lots of empty shelves that will feature some of the best of our remaining stock. LOTS of books and media remain, so stop by anytime during Graubner hours.

Best of the restocks:

-- Lots of books and media in the Special Purchases alcove, including large family Bibles, Great Courses on CDs with guidebooks, Book of the Month Club selections and a set of three new unused books by Tony Hillerman;

-- A shelf full of newly donated jigsaw puzzles (sorry, I couldn't say no to the nice man);

-- Over 30 LARGE (mostly 22' x 30') glossy posters of jigsaw puzzle collages on various subjects, including music, movies, locations, couples, divas, animals, flowers, etc. etc. They fill the tables in the west hallway, so look in the book store for topics (e.g. religion, health, CDs, audiobooks) that were previously in the west hallway. Best yet: only $2 per poster - A STEAL!!

Reminders:

-- The Graubner book store now accepts credit and debit cards ($5 minimum purchase, please). Cash and checks are good for any amount at both the Graubner and Kezar stores.

-- Both stores are open to the public during regular library branch hours.

-- The Graubner store will close in April once work begins on the branch expansion, and will reopen once work is complete in 2027. The store is NOT accepting further donations, so plan your shopping accordingly: what you see is what you get.

-- The Kezar branch store will continue to be open and accepting donations during the Graubner renovation.

The Graubner branch used book store will be CLOSING this spring to make way for the renovation/expansion of the branch library. This means that all books, media, puzzles, etc. currently in the book store MUST GO!!

As of January 12, the Graubner store will be selling (just about) everything for only $1 a bag - ONE DOLLAR, NO LIMITS! Individual items can be purchased for the usual low prices (nothing over $1.50).

Important disclaimers:

We will be selling some of our best quality books at special prices - stll a steal.

Graubner accepts payment in cash as well as by credit or debit card ($5 minimum purchase by card, please).

Effective immediately, Graubner WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING DONATIONS OF BOOKS OR OTHER MEDIA. The Kezar branch book store is open and continues to accept donated items.

The Graubner store will be reopening next year, better than ever, after renovations are complete. More information about the expansion is available on the rdl.org home page.
