FEATURED PROGRAM UPDATE: Music is for everyone. Three weeks ago, we walked into Scramble with a simple goal: help kids discover that making music is something they can do, not someday, but right now. Since then, our young musicians have created two original multitrack recordings, “PAC-MAN” and “Crazy Kids,” using GarageBand. They’ve learned how to count in, record tracks, listen to one another, and build a piece of music as a group.
This week the focus shifted again: melody. Together, the students discovered the musical alphabet. Music only uses A through G, and there is no H note, and proudly shared that discovery. They learned the melody of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” sang it together, found it on the keyboard, and took turns playing it alone and in pairs. By the end of class, they were making another multi-track recording and even transferring a song they knew on recorder to piano. And in one of the happiest moments of the day, the students voted to give their group an official name: Jiu Jitsu Band. That name came from them, chosen by them. We’re just here to support the music. What began as a short pilot is now becoming an ongoing program. We’re grateful to the Scramble team, the families and especially to Jiu Jitsu Band for showing up every week with curiosity and heart. This is exactly what we mean when we say Music is for everyone!
