Mike Flint Throws Shutout As Smith Post 24 Defeat Utica Post 229 Senior

Mike Flint didn't allow a single run as defeated Utica Post 229 Senior 4-0 on Thursday at Murnane Field. Flint allowed just two hits.

Smith Post 24 opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two walks. Smith Post 24 first got on the board when Braden Meeks drew a walk, scoring one run.

Smith Post 24 added one run in the third. Lucas Clausen singled to center field on an 0-2 count, making the score 3-0.

Josh Martinez took the loss for Utica Post 229 Senior. The pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on three hits, striking out nine and walking eight.

Clausen went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. John Sharrino went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Smith Post 24 in hits. PJ Summa led Smith Post 24 with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Tyler Lokker stole three bases. Smith Post 24 turned one double play in the game. Smith Post 24 were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Meeks made the most plays with 10.
