Moving day is officially in the books! 📦💙💚

Leanne found a pretty good place to recharge in the Serenity Chair between loads 😂, Christina kept the boxes moving, and Silk Movers helped get us from the old Center space to our new home.

A few more things to unload. We’ll have lots more pictures to share, but for now… we made it! 🎉

The Northwest Georgia Center for Independent Living reopens tomorrow, September 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in our new location. We can’t wait to welcome you! ✨

Today we said goodbye to a space that held a whole lot of work, laughter, challenges, memories for the last ten years… and probably held more boxes than any of us ever want to see again. 😂📦

It’s a little bittersweet to see it empty, but mostly, we’re grateful for everything that happened within those walls — and so excited for what comes next. 💙💚

Goodbye, old space. You served us well. Now it’s time for a new chapter, new memories, and all kinds of possibility. ✨

Onward to 800 Broad Street, Suite 210 Rome, Ga! 🥳🏢

📦🚚 Tomorrow’s the BIG day! 💙💚

NWGA CIL is packed. The internet is down. The phones are being moved. And the old Center is so empty now that our voices echo through the rooms.

We’ll admit it—a couple of us felt just a little tinge of sadness seeing it that way. There are a lot of memories in those rooms: people we’ve met, events we’ve held, laughter, hard work and a whole lot of good times.

Then somebody asked, “Where’s the packing tape?” 😂

That has pretty much been the official question of this move. Somehow the packing tape continually migrated from room to room, with absolutely nobody remembering taking it there.

And then…there was the storage room. 😳

As we worked our way deeper into it, we started finding things dating back to 2004. Old technology. Forgotten outdated equipment. At some point, packing became an archaeological excavation, and we weren’t entirely sure we wouldn’t uncover a dinosaur. 🦖

Somewhere between 2004’s broken relics and the back wall of that storage room, we began questioning our life choices. 😂

We have seen the error of our ways. We have learned a valuable life lesson.

This is why the storage room in our new Center is MUCH smaller. On purpose. 🤣

Everything else gets more room. Storage does not.

We cannot be trusted to have large storage rooms. 😂📦

Tomorrow, Monday, August 31, our staff will be hard at work getting everything moved and beginning to set up our new home. A HUGE thank-you to Silk Movers for helping us make it happen! 🚚💪

📢 Reminder: The Center will be closed to the public Monday while our staff works on the move.

We’re taking the memories, the mission, the people and the possibilities with us.

The ancient technology did not make the cut. 😂💙💚

Happy National Dog Day from Felicia & Gershwin! 🐾💙💚

They got their first look at NWGA CIL’s new space today before we move in next week — and they wasted no time running around, exploring, playing, and checking out their new office. 😂

Safe to say… they approve! 🐶🐶✨

📦🦒 LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY! 🦒📦

Things are getting very real around NWGA CIL — the boxes are stacking up, the tape is flying, and even “Jodi the Giraffe” has decided to help the moving crew. 😂💙💚

We’re packing up more than office supplies. We’re bringing along 22+ years of memories, teamwork, community, a couple of guide dog Labradors 🐾, one very determined short neck giraffe, and a whole lot of possibility.

Our new home is almost ready for us:

📍 800 Broad Street, Suite 210
Rome, GA 30161

We can’t wait to welcome everyone into the new space and begin this next chapter together.

💙 New Space.
💚 New Adventures.
💙 Same Mission.

All We See Is Possibility.

All We See Is Possibility

08/23/2026

“Why all the blue and green?” 💙💚

There’s actually a story behind it.

When NWGA CIL rebranded, our staff chose an abstract Phoenix for our logo because, in so many ways, it represented our Center, our community, and ourselves.

A Phoenix rises.

And Northwest Georgia knows a little something about rising.

Our communities have weathered tornadoes, COVID, loss, uncertainty, and more than a few hard seasons. Through it all, one thing has remained constant: the resilience of the people who call this area home. People help neighbors. Communities rebuild. We adjust, regroup, and somehow keep moving forward — sometimes gracefully, and sometimes with a whole lot of duct tape, coffee, and determination. 😂

The colors have meaning, too.

The green reminds us of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in summer — lush, alive, and familiar. The blue is the bright sky stretching above them. We made both colors vivid because that is how this place feels to us. It’s home…that we love.

It’s summertime in Northwest Georgia when you can smell honeysuckle in the warm air and, as evening settles in, hear the cicadas singing at nightfall.

Then autumn arrives and the mountains explode into reds, oranges, yellows, and golds so vibrant that, frankly, there probably wasn’t enough room in one logo to do them justice. 🍂😂

So we chose blue and green — the mountains and the sky — and a Phoenix rising between them.

Because independent living is about possibility.

It is about looking at a barrier and asking, “How do we get around it, over it, through it, or change it altogether?”

It’s about recognizing that disability does not erase dreams, purpose, independence, community, or a future.

And that brings us to the words that perhaps say more about NWGA CIL than anything else:

“All We See Is Possibility.”

Because that isn’t simply a tagline we put beneath a logo.

It’s true.

We see possibility in our community.
We see possibility in one another.
We see possibility after change, after hardship, and even after the times when starting over wasn’t part of the original plan.

Our Phoenix reminds us that we have risen before.

And we will keep rising — together. And soon…we can welcome you into YOUR new NWGA CIL! We love our community. 💙💚

Just amazing. We visited the beautiful Perkins School for the Blind’s campus a few years ago. Wondered what it was like up there. Great video!!!
