One of the greatest hurdles for people in need to overcome is access to assistance, and United Way of Floyd, Polk & Chattooga County is working to eliminate that obstacle with its 211 service.

“211 was created to be a companion to 911,” said Alli Ellard, CEO of United Way FPC. “If your house is on fire, you call 911; if your life is on fire, you call 211.”

Whether it’s help with the basics — food, shelter, transportation, utilities, healthcare, education — or any number of problems plaguing those in need, 211 was designed to fill the gaps in service by guiding people to where they can receive assistance.

The Exchange Club of Rome Ga celebrated the 90th birthday and also thinking of our 250th celebration of our nation . Our Exchange Club National President Fussell Hughes read the Exchange Club of Rome Proclamation presented by the City & County Commissioners . Exchange Club President Robert Symth and National President Fussell Hughes cut the ceremony cake . National President Hughes threw out the 1st pitch !

We were honored to have Amy Bergstrom - Mental Health Court Coordinator for Floyd County Superior Court do a presentation on a long standing program to help residents get back on track towards success.

The RCMHC STAR Program - refers to the Rome Circuit Mental Health Court Support, Treatment, Accountability, and Recovery program in Rome, Georgia. It is a court-supervised accountability program designed to serve individuals in Floyd County who have a qualifying mental health diagnosis and are involved in the criminal justice system. The program serves as an alternative to incarceration, aiming to reduce repeat offenses and improve stability for participants.
