Knowledge is our greatest power. đź–¤ This National Black Family Cancer Awareness Week, we are coming together to protect our families, honor our history, and build a healthier future.

Black Americans continue to face the highest mortality rates for most cancers, but early detection saves lives. This week, let’s commit to taking action:

đź’¬ Talk about your family health history with your loved ones.
🩺 Schedule your routine cancer screenings.
🧬 Learn about the importance of diverse clinical trials.

Let’s close the gap and protect our families for generations to come.

It is Men’s Health Week, and our coalition has a vital reminder for the men in our community: putting off your doctor’s visit could cost you your life. 🩺

Statistically, men are significantly less likely than women to visit a doctor or schedule routine screenings. When it comes to cancer, early detection is entirely a game-changer.

As a coalition, we urge you to speak with your healthcare provider about these key screenings:

🩺 Prostate Cancer: Men aged 50+ (or 45+ if you are African American or have a family history) should discuss the PSA blood test.

🩸 Colorectal Cancer: Routine screenings (like colonoscopies) should begin for everyone at age 45.

🔍 Skin Cancer: Perform regular self-exams and have any changing, asymmetrical, or bleeding moles checked immediately.

🛑 Testicular Cancer: Though rare overall, this is the most common cancer in young men aged 15–44. Practice regular self-exams.

Taking care of your health isn't just about you—it’s about being there for the people who love and rely on you.

👉 Use the Men's Health Network Resource Center to find a preventative care checklist.

Today is World Brain Tumor Day. 🧠 🎗️

Brain tumors are complex, and their symptoms are frequently mistaken for everyday ailments like stress, fatigue, or migraines. As a coalition, we want to remind our community that recognizing early warning signs can save lives.

Please do not ignore persistent or unusual changes in your body, including:
🤕 Recurring headaches that worsen over time.
🤮 Unexplained morning nausea or vomiting.
⚡ Sudden seizures or fits.
🗣️ Changes in speech, vision, or balance.
🧠 New or unusual memory lapses.

Early diagnosis significantly expands treatment options and protects neurological function. If you or a loved one are experiencing these symptoms consistently, please schedule a comprehensive medical review.

đź”— To learn more about symptoms, types of brain tumors, or local diagnostics, check the clinical resources provided by the National Brain Tumor Society.

Uterine cancer is the most common gynecologic cancer, yet it remains one of the least talked about.

This Uterine Cancer Awareness Month, we are changing that. 🍑

Incidence and mortality rates are rising, with deep racial disparities affecting diagnosis and care. Education is our most powerful tool because when caught early, uterine cancer is highly treatable.

Listen to your body and look out for these key symptoms:

Abnormal Bleeding: Any spotting, heavy bleeding, or irregular discharge before menopause.

Postmenopausal Bleeding: Any bleeding or spotting after menopause—even a single drop—is never normal.

Pelvic Pain: Persistent pain, pressure, or cramping in the lower abdomen.

If you experience any of these signs, don’t wait. Schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider and advocate for your health.

June is Cancer Immunotherapy Awareness Month! 🔬

For decades, cancer treatment relied almost entirely on surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Today, immunotherapy is transforming oncology by training the body’s own immune system to recognize, target, and eliminate cancer cells.

From checkpoint inhibitors to CAR T-cell therapy, these breakthrough treatments are providing durable, long-term survival for patients—even those with advanced or metastatic cancers.

We are proud to support the researchers, clinicians, and patients driving this medical revolution forward.

đź’ˇ Learn more about how immunotherapy works and discover the latest scientific breakthroughs by visiting the Cancer Research Institute or exploring patient education materials through the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC).

Guys, it is time to prioritize your health. 🩺

June is Men’s Health Month, and we are focusing on a critical conversation: cancer prevention and early detection.

Cancer affects 1 in 2 men in their lifetime, with prostate, lung, and colorectal cancers being the most common. The good news? Regular screenings can catch changes early when they are most treatable.

This month, take charge of your future:

👨‍⚕️ Schedule that annual physical you've been putting off.
đź“‹ Ask your doctor when to start screening for prostate and colorectal cancer.
đź’¬ Know your family history and share it with your healthcare provider.

Real strength is taking care of your health. Do it for yourself, and do it for the people who love you.

Survivorship is more than just the end of treatment—it involves navigating the ongoing physical, emotional, and financial challenges that come afterward.

During National Cancer Survivors Month, we recommit ourselves to supporting the estimated 18 million cancer survivors in the United States. We are here to champion better survivorship care resources, raise awareness, and ensure that every survivor has the support they need to thrive.

Learn how you can access support resources or register for survivorship events via the National Cancer Institute or the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation.

Take 7 Minutes. Save a Life.

Every year, more than 60,000 people in the United States die from blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. Behind that number are real stories: parents, children, coworkers, friends—people who didn’t get the second chance they desperately needed.

This May 28th, on World Blood Cancer Day, we’re asking you to pause, reflect, and take action. In just a few minutes, you can help save someone’s life by joining the DKMS stem cell registry.
