Happy Flag Day!

Today, we proudly celebrate the Stars and Stripesโ€”the enduring symbol of our nation's freedom, unity, and resilience.

As members of the Georgia District Exchange Clubs, we are especially mindful of the values our flag represents: service, patriotism, respect for our military, and dedication to our communities. Through our Programs of Service, we strive to honor those values every day by making a positive difference across Georgia.

On this Flag Day, take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who have defended our freedoms and the responsibility we share to be active, engaged citizens.

May Old Glory continue to inspire us to serve with purpose and lead with pride.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ The Exchange Club of Columbus recently celebrated its Military Appreciation Luncheon with a special guest speaker, veteran and military historian John House.

John entertained and educated attendees with a fascinating presentation on the Battle of Columbus and the origins of Coca-Cola in 1865. Through his engaging storytelling and vivid descriptions, he brought history to life, helping us envision what Columbus and Phenix City were like during this pivotal period in our nation's history.

The Georgia District Exchange Clubs are proud to recognize programs like this that honor our military, celebrate Americanism, and preserve the rich history of our communities. Thank you, John House, for sharing your knowledge and passion with us and for providing such an outstanding history lesson!

The Exchange Club of Columbus is accepting new members. If you would like to be a part of this great service club, please send a PM.

At our recent meeting, Bethany Strickland of Main Street Blackshear/Better Hometown was our guest speaker.
Bethany updated the club on the City Park renovations and the expected timeline for each phase. The park is truly the heart of the community-a place where families gather, children play, friendships are made and memories are created. (Also the home of the Annual Pecan Festival.)
We are excited to to see the progress being made and look forward to sharing this beautiful community space.

Bethany also told the club about a a project involving all of the community.

The Main Street/Better Hometown Blackshear Program is inviting the entire community to help create a giant American flag mural in celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

๏ฟผHereโ€™s the fun part: the mural will be made from 1000 small 4 x 4 canvases, each painted by someone in our community!

FREE canvases are available at Blackshear City Hall. ๏ฟผ Senior citizens, students, families, churches, artists and community members are invited to participate.

Paint your patriotic design, return your canvas, and become part of a community-made tribute to be unveiled at the Semiquincentennial celebration on September 12, 2026๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

This mural represents the idea that every individual contributes to the strength of our nation. When all the small paintings come together, they form one powerful symbol: Our American Flag๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

So join us and be part of this historic community art project celebrating 250 years of American independence. Because when we put all the squares together, we create something bigger than ourselves!

Stop by Blackshear City Hall to get your canvas and paint today!

Thank you Bethany for all you do for our community!

Great Program by the Exchange Club of Swainsboro!

"The idea of "Serving Grace" started when Ashley reached out to two ladies from Jesus Saves Church about making food boxes for families who were struggling because they were not receiving their benefits at the time. They immediately got on board and were willing to help meet a need in our community.

As they were talking, Mrs. Donna Moore mentioned that one day she would love to see a soup kitchen started. Instead of waiting for โ€œone day,โ€ we decided to step out in faith and try it one day a week. We first considered using our church, but we felt led to find a location closer to town where it would be more accessible to those we wanted to serve.

We brought a few more people on board, and Mrs. Donna spoke with Scotty Hattaway at the Baptist Association. He believed in the vision and was willing to partner with us. Through Godโ€™s provision and the willingness of many servants, "Serving Grace" officially began on November 3, 2025.

Since that day, God has done more than we could have imagined. To date, we have served 3,324 meals. More importantly, we have seen lives touched spiritually, with three salvations and two rededications to the Lord Jesus Christ.

What started as a small idea has grown into a ministry involving five local churches working together to serve our community. We have also distributed numerous food boxes to families in need. Even more exciting, one church has been inspired to begin a "Serving Grace" ministry in their own hometown of Nunez.

"Serving Grace" is about much more than food. It is about showing the love of Jesus in a practical way, meeting both physical and spiritual needs, and reminding people that they are seen, valued, and loved by God.

We are grateful for every volunteer, every church, every donation, and every person who has supported this ministry. Most of all, we give God the glory for what He has done and for what He will continue to do through Serving Grace."
