At our recent meeting, Bethany Strickland of Main Street Blackshear/Better Hometown was our guest speaker.
Bethany updated the club on the City Park renovations and the expected timeline for each phase. The park is truly the heart of the community-a place where families gather, children play, friendships are made and memories are created. (Also the home of the Annual Pecan Festival.)
We are excited to to see the progress being made and look forward to sharing this beautiful community space.
Bethany also told the club about a a project involving all of the community.
The Main Street/Better Hometown Blackshear Program is inviting the entire community to help create a giant American flag mural in celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States. ๐บ๐ธ
๏ฟผHereโs the fun part: the mural will be made from 1000 small 4 x 4 canvases, each painted by someone in our community!
FREE canvases are available at Blackshear City Hall. ๏ฟผ Senior citizens, students, families, churches, artists and community members are invited to participate.
Paint your patriotic design, return your canvas, and become part of a community-made tribute to be unveiled at the Semiquincentennial celebration on September 12, 2026๐บ๐ธ
This mural represents the idea that every individual contributes to the strength of our nation. When all the small paintings come together, they form one powerful symbol: Our American Flag๐บ๐ธ
So join us and be part of this historic community art project celebrating 250 years of American independence. Because when we put all the squares together, we create something bigger than ourselves!
Stop by Blackshear City Hall to get your canvas and paint today!
Thank you Bethany for all you do for our community!
