Cory Baldwin Shares Hawks’ Successful Season with Exchange Club
The Exchange Club recently welcomed South Georgia State College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Cory Baldwin, who gave members an inside look at the Hawks basketball program, reflected on an impressive season, and discussed the talented student-athletes who have helped build the program’s continued success.
Baldwin spoke about the highs and challenges of the 2025–26 season, which proved to be another memorable year for the Hawks. After beginning the season with a 3–7 record, the team showed tremendous resilience, winning 20 of its next 23 games on the way to capturing the GCAA/Region XVII Tournament Championship and earning a second consecutive trip to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. The Hawks ultimately finished the season with a 23–11 record.
The success of the program extends well beyond wins and losses. South Georgia State reports that its men’s basketball program has accumulated 375 victories over 17 seasons, averaging more than 22 wins per year. During that time, 123 student-athletes have moved on to play basketball at four-year institutions, while 94 percent of the program’s players have earned an associate degree before moving on.
Several members of Baldwin’s most recent squad are continuing their careers at the next level, including Chandler Thomas at NCAA Division I North Carolina Central University, Trey Callaway at NCAA Division II Shorter University, and Jeremy Anderson and Dominick Wright at NAIA programs.
Baldwin’s leadership was also recognized following the season when he was named the 2025–26 Southeastern District Coach of the Year, the fifth time he has received the honor.
Members enjoyed hearing Baldwin share not only statistics and victories, but also the stories behind the players and the work that goes into building a successful college basketball program. The Exchange Club thanks Coach Cory Baldwin for taking the time to visit and share an exciting look at South Georgia State College basketball and the bright future ahead for the Hawks.
