Just a reminder, White County is under a Burn Ban.

From Arkansas Department of Agriculture “ Wildfire risk is increased across Arkansas, and the Department of Agriculture is asking residents to stay alert and use caution. Dry weather has made it easier for fires to start and harder to keep them contained, which means even small outdoor fires can spread quickly under the right conditions.”

Due to a lack of rainfall the entire state is under a High Fire Risk. Please do your part in making sure both your communities and your firefighters stay safe by not burning.

🚫Avoid outdoor debris burning.
🚫Do not discard ci******es outside.
🚫Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass.
🚫Use caution with equipment that creates sparks.

While it was really nice to enjoy the cooler temperatures today and get some rain (without all the severe weather), unfortunately the wildfire risk has not improved. As of right now, we are currently still under a burn ban.

Saturday, August 15th, 2026

At 1802 Floyd Romance Fire Department was dispatched to the area of AR-5 and Proctor Ln for a field fire close to a structure. Once we arrived on scene, we attacked the fire with the brush trucks, a hand line from Tender, and hand tools. Thankfully, the wind was slowing the fire’s spread towards the structure. We were able to contain the fire to the field that it started in and prevent any structures from damage.

FRFD responded with Tender 1, Tender 2, Tanker 3, Brush 1, 2, 3, and 15 personnel. Rose Bud Volunteer Fire Department provided mutual aid with 2 brush trucks and 5 personnel. Constable Betts and White County Sheriff's Office Arkansas responded as well.

As dry and windy as it was today, this fire could have quickly spread and gotten out of control. With the lack of rainfall and how dry everything is, it does not take much for a fire to start. We need everyone to do their part to prevent fires. 🔥 We urge everyone to exercise caution during outdoor activities to help prevent wildfires. Here are some helpful :

⚠️ Pay close attention to equipment operation such as brush hogs and mowers
⚠️ Make sure trailer safety chains are off the ground
⚠️ Avoid driving on a flat tire
⚠️ Avoid vehicle operation in tall dry grass
⚠️ Avoid outdoor burning, even in areas that are not under a burn ban
⚠️ Use caution when using spark-producing tools such as welders and grinders
⚠️ Keep water or a fire extinguisher handy at all times

The Floyd Romance Fire Department extends its sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and to everyone who knew and loved White County Judge Lisa Brown.

We are deeply saddened by her passing and grateful for the time, service, and dedication she provided to both our county and community.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones during this challenging time.

As school kicks off this week, the Floyd Romance Fire Department would like to share some simple safety tips to help keep our children safe.

• Always stop for buses with their flashing lights on and stop sign extended. DO NOT PASS THEM! Children might run across the road to catch the bus or to get home.

• Drive slowly in school zones and always be on the lookout for people walking.

• Make sure you plan ahead for traffic and delays. Please don’t speed.

• Always buckle up and avoid driving while distracted.

We want to wish everyone a safe and fantastic first day back to school!

Saturday August 1st, 2026

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for our Kids Fun Days event! It was wonderful to see so many community members there having a great time! We were able to give out 51 backpacks filled with school supplies as well as 3 bundles of school supplies thanks to the generosity of our community and Rowland Tree Service!

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us and volunteered their time and equipment to make this a success! A BIG THANK YOU to all of the following!! Searcy Fire Department & White County Office of Emergency Managementfor letting us use their smokehouse and Sparky costume. NorthStar EMS was for bringing an ambulance and Survival Flight 6 which brought their helicopter so we could all take a peek inside and ask any questions we had. Darla Jane's Place provided an amazing free clothing closet for anyone in the community. Zach Bulich, who put on an amazing reptile demonstration with some really cool reptiles. Abate Plus with the bounce house, cotton candy machine, and popcorn machine which everybody enjoyed!

Thursday July 16th, 2026
Training this week we “flipped the script” and had the firefighters split into groups and put on presentations for all of the officers. Each group of Firefighters was assigned a topic covering some aspect of our training with the groups getting to chose what specifically they wanted to cover on the topic and the Junior Firefighters were assigned a presentation on the history of firefighting. The topics covered were: Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA), Engine Ops, Tanker/Water Ops, and Wild-land/Brushfires. It was a great opportunity for everyone to work together and to see what goes into preparing and conducting a training night. All groups did an amazing job with their topics!

Good morning!

We wanted to take the time to give a shout out and to thank Lake Ice for their generous donation of bags for our ice machine. Being able to bag our own ice saves our department from having to purchase ice for events and allows us to have ice on hand for when respond to calls in this summer heat.

This week has been a week of mutual aid calls. We are very glad to be able to work with and help our neighboring departments out when needed.

Thursday, July 9th, 2026

Our weekly training started out with driver training. Basics of pulling and backing a trailer, advanced maneuvering of a trailer, and maneuvering of our Engine. We had different courses set up with cones for each group. While conducting our driver training we were toned out for mutual aid to assist Center Hill Fire Dept. on a structure fire. We were dispatched to the area of AR-36 and Yarnell Rd for a confirmed structure fire with no occupants, they were requesting water and manpower. We were able to responded with 12 personnel, water and equipment while also keeping our district covered. Joy Fire and Rescue Department, Fairview VFD, White County Sheriff's Office Arkansas, and NorthStar EMS also responded.

Monday July 13th, 2026

At approximately 0030 Floyd Romance Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Goodloe rd and Nix rd for a mutual aid request involving a structure fire in Mt Vernon. We responded with 6 personnel, Engine 2 and Tanker. Rose Bud Volunteer Fire Department, Enola VFD, WCSO and NorthStar also responded.

I also want to thank everyone at White County 911/Dispatch Center and Faulkner County Dispatch for everything they do in coordinating all responding agencies on our calls.
