They are home! 🏡

Since February, this family, along with their 3 dogs, has been experiencing homelessness.

After losing everything, they've spent months navigating some incredibly difficult circumstances while trying to keep their family together and find a place to call their own.

And now, after all those months of waiting and working toward this moment, they finally have a HOME! ❤️

When we asked if they had anything they wanted to share, their message was simple:

"Never give up. Life can be hard, but as long as you have support and work together to accomplish your goals, it is possible."

Those words mean a little more when you know what this family has been through.

We're so excited for them to finally have a place where they can settle in, get comfortable, and begin making new memories together.

11 PEOPLE FOUND HOUSING IN SEPTEMBER!! 🏡❤️

Eleven people who have been working, saving, filling out applications, and doing everything they can to get into a place of their own.

Some journeys take weeks. Others take months. There are setbacks, waiting lists, unexpected expenses, and plenty of frustrating days along the way.

But there's nothing quite like the day someone finally gets those keys!

In September, we got to celebrate that moment 11 times! 🥹

We are so incredibly proud of the hard work each of these individuals has put into reaching this goal.

And to everyone who supports The Rolla Mission, thank you for helping us be here for people while they work toward moments like these.

6 PEOPLE GOT JOBS IN SEPTEMBER!! 🎉💼

Finding employment can be a huge step when you're working to rebuild your life. It means having an income, being able to start saving, and getting a little closer to goals like finding housing and becoming financially independent.

But getting there isn't always easy.

Between getting all their legal documents, filling out applications, finding transportation, preparing for interviews, and waiting for that phone call, there's a lot of work that goes into getting hired.

In September, six people put in that work and landed jobs!

We are so proud of each of them and excited to see where these new opportunities take them.

Six new jobs. Six people moving forward. And six really good reasons to celebrate! ❤️👏

Mark is home! 🏡

When Mark found himself homeless in March, he had lost everything, including the place he once called home.

He was faced with the overwhelming task of starting over and rebuilding his life.

For months, Mark has been saving his money, searching for housing and patiently waiting for this day to come.

And Friday, it finally happened! 🎊

Mark has a home of his own again!

There's something pretty special about watching someone who has worked so hard finally get the keys to a place of their own.

Welcome home, Mark🔑🏡

And while we're celebrating Mark today, there are others at The Rolla Mission working toward this very same goal.

We had some very special visitors at The Rolla Mission today! ❤️

The Bailey Nicole Foundation stopped by to present us with a donation from this year’s Bailey’s List event, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

After Bailey’s passing, her coworkers discovered a handwritten list of ways she wanted to help her community. That list became the inspiration for Bailey’s List, and today her kindness continues to reach people in her memory.

What makes this especially meaningful to us is how much Bailey’s heart reflects the work we do at The Mission. As a hospital case manager, she went above and beyond to make sure people had what they needed to return home safely, even providing those things herself when necessary.

She understood that caring for someone doesn’t stop until they’re safely home. ❤️

These little hands have a home to grow up in. ❤️🔑

His mom turned 18 last month.

She has been experiencing homelessness since she was 16 years old. Now she's a single mom with a 9-month-old little boy, trying to figure out adulthood and motherhood at the same time.

As soon as she turned 18 she reached out to our outreach team.

She was ready for help. And she was ready to work.

She has a job. She enrolled in GED classes. With the help of our team she began working through everything that needed to happen to get her and her baby into a home.

There were deposits to figure out, utilities to work through, transportation to think about and all of those little pieces that have to come together before someone can actually move into an apartment.

And they did.

She has the keys.

When she talked about their new apartment, she was excited about something that probably wouldn't seem like a big deal to most of us.

The floors.

There's hardwood where her little boy can move around in his walker and carpet where he can crawl and play.

Soon, those little hands will be crawling across the floor of their own home.

There will be toys on that carpet. A baby cruising around on those hardwood floors. A young mom figuring things out one day at a time.

And for the first time in a long time, she knows they are safe and they are home!

There’s more to rebuilding your life than finding a job or saving money.

This month in Rise & Rebuild, we’re talking about mental health.

Participants are learning about the basics of mental health, recognizing warning signs, healthy ways to cope with stress, and where to turn when they need help.

Because when you're working toward employment, housing, sobriety, repairing relationships and figuring out what comes next, taking care of your mental health matters too.

Rise & Rebuild is about preparing people for more than the next step.

It’s about building the skills to keep moving forward.

One thing we want to do a better job of is talking about how homelessness happens.

There usually isn’t one simple answer.

Job loss, lack of affordable housing, mental health, addiction, unexpected expenses, family changes, medical issues and so many other circumstances can leave someone without a safe place to go.

And often, it isn’t just one of those things. It’s several happening at once.

Over the next few months, we’re going to talk more about some of these barriers—not to make excuses or assumptions, but because understanding the problem matters if we want to be part of the solution.

Homelessness is complicated. So is the work of moving forward.

And we think those conversations are worth having.
