in their symptoms of PTSD, adjust back into civilian life, lead a more productive life and help them build self-esteem. PTSD Service Dogs Training
Missouri Patriot Paws can create customized training programs for PTSD Service Dogs to help those who are suffering and living with PTSD. A specially trained PTSD Service Dog can provide a sense of security, calming effects, and physical exercise that can make a positive difference in the life of anyone that suffers with PTSD. Like all assistance dogs, a psychiatric service dog is individually trained to work or perform tasks that mitigate his or her handler's disability. Training may include providing environmental assessment (in such cases as paranoia or hallucinations), signaling behaviors (such as interrupting repetitive or injurious behaviors), reminding the handler to take medications, retrieving objects and guiding the handler from stressful situations. PTSD Service Dogs can literally change the life of a veteran or other person with PTSD.

We encourage our veterans to video tape or take notes during class so they can remember their training that week.
