Alumni can come visit the page and see what the new actives are up to, maybe even tell us about old traditions that might have been lost throughout the years. In addition, people in the Rolla community and others who are interested can see what upcoming service events DOL has planned. If you have any questions on how to get involved in a DOL event, just message this group, and a chairperson will
get back to you! How DOL Began:
DOL didn't always stand for Delta Omicron Lambda. Prior to that, it was called The Daughters of the Lion, a little sister organization to the fraternity AEPi. By the fall of 1995, little sister organizations were dying out all over campus. DOL felt the need to break out on their own, but campus was hesitant to take any chances on these types of organizations. DOL was looking for something different than a sorority or service organization, something new to reflect their uniqueness. They decided to form a women's issues organization where they could impact the university and the community. A constitution was drafted by e-board members Shari Willadsen and Amy (Swanson) Owens in the spring of 1996. Throughout the probation period, DOL made a huge impact in the community by events such as a spaghetti dinner, balloon-o-gram sale for Valentine's day, rummage sale, and car wash with all proceeds going to the Russell House. By the end of spring semester 1996, DOL was an independent, campus-recognized women's issues organization. Now, 15 years later, the organization endures and continues to grow with its initial ideals intact. DOL continues to offer help to women and children in need while building ever lasting friendships.
