Rolla Lions Club

Rolla Lions Club Rolla Lions Club Park has 7 outlying pavilions and 3 large pavilions in the main part of the park. Each pavilion has electricity and water.
(1)

Small charcoal grills are available for the smaller outlying pavilions and large grills are available for larger gatherings. Since an average of about 400 pavilions are reserved each year, you are encouraged to make your reservations as early as possibly. To reserve a pavilion for a family picnic or a company outing, call 573-364-4386 and leave a message. The Rolla Lions Club Park has a major play

ground area and two smaller areas near outlying pavilions. Also available are two basketball and two volleyball courts with nets

The park has a small lake that is stocked two times each year with bass, catfish, and perch for the enjoyment of the youngest to the most skilled fisherman. An accessible dock is available for those who need a wheelchair accessible facility. Two well maintained, fenced fields of little league dimensions are now available for boys and girls 12 years and younger. About 300 children, starting at age 6, on 24 teams, play baseball and softball on these fields each year. A larger field is available for children over 12 years of age and for adults. Play for adults is limited to softball. Two practice fields are also available. During the months of May through July, you are encouraged to make reservations for these fields, especially during the evenings of Monday through Friday, and during the weekends. During league play, priority will be given to youth teams. There is a 4.5 mile mountain bike trail at the
rear of the park. Currently there are 4 major size fields that can easily be divided in half to accommodate the younger players. The Rolla Youth Soccer League is directly responsible for managing, maintaining, and scheduling all soccer games at the complex. For more information contact the Rolla Area Youth Soccer League. The Rolla Lions Club has an 18 hole Disc golf course which is open to the public. Any other use of the course than by the general public must be approved by the Rolla Lions Club Board of Directors. Additionally, fundraising events are prohibited in the Lions Club Park unless there is prior approval by the Rolla Lions Club Board and that approval is only considered when the person or group seeking approval comes before the board in person. These are just some of the features of the park that your donations are used to help maintain such a vast area for your enjoyment. The Rolla Lions Club has been a major supporter of the Lions Eye Bank and more recently, Saving Sight, formerly known as the Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation which includes the Lions Eye Bank. We have helped fund these organizations with sizable donations from the beginning. We have also made major efforts to secure signed eye donor cards from both within and outside the club. We have also provided transportation of eye tissue from Rolla. Saving Sight is the major sight project of both Missouri Lions and the Rolla Lions Club. The Missouri Lions Hearing Program

The Missouri Lions Hearing Program provides testing and hearing aids for individuals with hearing problems in our communities. Used Eyeglasses Collection

The Lions collect used eye glasses for recycling. Contributions can be made at collection boxes throughout the community. Mid South Lions Sight & Hearing Service

The Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Service provides primary sight and hearing care to indigent persons from Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, and west Tennessee at no charge to the patient. Most patients are seen at either the Methodist Hospital-Central or the LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis Tennessee. The Rolla Lions Club has been an active member of the Service for a number of years providing both financial support and patients, usually at least three or four at any given time. Leader Dogs for the Blind

Leader Dogs for the Blind has been a project of the Rolla Lions Club and the Missouri Lions for many years. The Club has provided financial support for this organization for over fifteen years. We have also, as needed, utilized their services by sponsoring those blind members of our community who wanted the additional mobility made possible by a Leader Dog to the School in Rochester Michigan. The Vance Scholarship Fund was established in December of 1989 with the initial distribution of funds from the Glennis Vance Estate. Glennis Vance left the money to the Rolla Lions Club to create a scholarship fund to honor her husband, Jesse Vance. Jesse Vance was a member of the Rolla Lions Club and its President during 1952-53. Applicants must be Phelps County Missouri residents attending a Phelps County Public High School, the Rolla Technical Institute, or the Rolla Technical Center with plans to attend a public Missouri college or university or the Rolla Technical Institute to be considered for these scholarships. Scholarship holders may apply for a year by year extension of their scholarships. We hold bingo every Monday night. Smoking is not allowed inside our building. The Rolla Lioness Club operates a concession stand with food and drinks. We had the pleasure of welcoming Martina Hahn– Bauer, president and CEO of Kaleidoscope Discovery Center as our guest speaker at our last Lions Club meeting. It was exciting to hear the opportunities they provide that value science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) through hands-on learning, exploring and creating. Be sure to check them out as they have several amazing upcoming events and exhibits that will be available for the community to enjoy this fall. Thanks again, Martina for the visit!

🐾Happy National Dog Day! 🐾
Today we celebrate all the wonderful dogs who bring love, joy, companionship—and for some, a whole new sense of independence.
The Rolla Lions Club is proud to support Leader Dogs for the Blind, an organization that helps provide guide dogs and training to people who are blind or visually impaired. 💜🦮💛
These incredible dogs do so much more than guide-providing confidence, freedom, companionship, and a greater sense of independence to the people they serve.
Be sure to take those furbabies to the Lions Club Park & enjoy the Pet Trail & send us pics enjoying our dog friendly areas🐶🦴🐾
