North East Wake Backpack Buddies Imagine leaving school on Friday and not having anything to eat until Monday...this is a reality for some children in our schools.

North East Wake Backpack Buddies provides weekend meals and snacks every week to 400+ local children at 23 area schools. North East Wake Backpack Buddies is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was created to meet the needs of hungry children in the Rolesville, Wake Forest, and Raleigh area. The program serves over 400 bags each week for 19 schools. The program is funded solely by donations - corporate and individual. There are no paid staff and all work is done by volunteers.

What an amazing day at NEWBB as we packed the final meal bags of the 2025–2026 school year.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped behind the scenes with planning and prep, showed up to volunteer, and jumped into packing with such energy and heart.

Our monthly Food Bank delivery day takes a village, and we are so grateful for the volunteers who make it happen.

A special thank you to Michael, Mikey, and Rick for picking up and delivering our pallets of food, and to our incredible Friday volunteer team who unloaded, sorted, counted, and stocked everything in our pantry. Their hard work behind the scenes is a vital part of ensuring local students have weekend meals waiting for them each week.

As we head into June, we wanted to share a few important updates to our delivery calendar for the students we serve across our community. 💛

• Our incredible Teen Board has organized a special pack that will be delivered on Monday, June 1, 2026, in addition to our regular weekly bag delivery on Friday, June 5th.

• Traditional calendar schools finish for the summer on Thursday, June 11th, so all deliveries for those schools will take place that day.

• We will continue serving our Year-Round schools with deliveries on June 18th and June 26th.

We are endlessly grateful for every volunteer, driver, donor, school partner, and supporter who helps make this work possible each week. Your time, energy, and heart truly make all the difference for students in our community.
