It’s Testimony Tuesday! Today we are excited to share Glynn Tate’s testimony. Glynn is our Worship Pastor and he is a man who really has a heart for the Lord. We hope in reading his testimony you get to know a little bit more about him and about what the Lord has done in his life:
Growing up, I identified as a Christian. On the surface, I was a “good” kid—good grades, good job, kept out of trouble, and generally well-liked. But I really just had everyone and myself fooled. I was about as worldly as they come. I went to church with my friends when it was convenient, but chased girls and drank to excess in my free time. The seed had been planted at some point—I knew who Jesus was, maybe even a good bit about Him. I even prayed sometimes, especially when I needed help with something. But I didn’t know Him. I drifted along, aware of God in my life, but not ever making a commitment to do anything about it, much less live for Him. But God put people in my life to change that. For many years, a friend’s mom pursued me and was faithful in sharing about Jesus. Later, she ministered to me and my wife. She kept that stubborn seed watered, but it still didn’t sprout. At our Air Force first duty assignment, my Squadron DO invested in us through a young couple’s group. We learned more. We played church. We did church things, we heard more about Jesus. A tiny twig, maybe even a withered leaf started to emerge. But I still only new facts about Jesus. I knew who He was, had all the head knowledge necessary for a personal relationship with the Savior Of The World, but still didn’t make that connection or commitment. Then God put worship music in my life. Through a God-ordained series of events, I ended up on the worship team at a Baptist church, even though I can’t ever remember having ever even been in a Baptist church before. That church and the people on that worship team invested in me and nourished that seed. Through many long talks after rehearsal and from revelation through God’s word, and even through the music itself, I came to know and love Jesus as my Savior. Since then, God has changed me, softened my heart, and used me in ways I would have never thought possible. I’m still a long ways from perfect—still a withered branch on that glorious vine. But with the help of those people God used over the years to finally reach me, I know the source of that vine and desperately want to live for and serve Him! I want to continue that legacy of loving and investing in others for Jesus and to help them truly know and worship the incredible King we serve!
