Shalam Ministries Mitigating the effects of trauma with the love of Christ. Our vision is to build Hero's Rest, a retreat center for first responders and their families.

Currently, Shalam Ministries provides assistance and encouragement to those dealing with the aftermath of extreme trauma. Through camping retreats and healing engagement with the outdoor Hero's Rest will meet the needs for rest and recovery that first responders face, Without ways to rest and recover from the trauma they regularly encounter in their work, they are at risk for major adverse effects

, including burnout, addiction, and potentially su***de. We have found no retreat centers or places for rest specifically for first responders and their unique needs. Therefore, Shalam Ministries has developed Hero’s Rest to serve our nation’s heroes (firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, etc.). Military spouses don’t wear the uniform, but they carry the weight of sacrifice too.

They hold down the homefront through the long deployments. They rebuild community over and over again with each move. Many carry their own unique stresses and traumas in order to be there for their spouse and to help them serve well.
