As Commander, I have had the honor and privilege of being part of American Legion Post 100 in Rogers, Arkansas. We are a very active Post made up of four branches of the American Legion Family: The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion, and American Legion Riders. Together, we are committed to serving our veterans, their families, and our community.
One of the most important things we do is honor those who have served our country. Our members perform Honor Guard services for veterans who have passed, giving them the recognition and respect they deserve. We also provide Color Guards for ceremonies, community events, and special occasions throughout the area.
Post 100 is also a place for fellowship and bringing our community together. Every Thursday night, we host Bingo, with Early Bird games beginning at 5:00 PM and regular games starting at 6:00 PM. Our Bingo program is open to the public, and we appreciate everyone who comes out to support us.
On the first Saturday of every month, we serve our All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast from 7:00–10:00 AM for a $7 donation. It is open to the public, and we invite everyone to come enjoy a good breakfast and great fellowship.
On the second Saturday of each month, we hold a Special Bingo from 2:00–4:00 PM to help raise funds for a local 501(c)(3) charitable organization. This is another way Post 100 works to give back and support organizations making a difference in our community.
Our American Legion Family stays busy throughout the year. After Thanksgiving, our American Legion Auxiliary hosts a Christmas Store at the VA auditorium, with dates and times announced each year. The Auxiliary works hard to make the Christmas season special for our veterans.
The Sons of The American Legion hold fundraising dinners throughout the year, including rib dinners and smoked-rib fundraisers where full and half racks are available. The money raised helps support our veterans, our Post, and our community programs.
Our American Legion Riders hold several rides and fundraisers throughout the year, raising money that directly benefits veterans and veteran programs in our area. Every branch of our American Legion Family works together with the same goal: to serve and support our veterans and our community.
We are also proud to have recently chartered with the Cub Scouts, helping us build relationships with the next generation and encourage service, citizenship, and respect for our country.
As we continue to grow, Post 100 is looking to strengthen our relationships with our local police and fire departments. We want to support their programs, assist wherever we can, and recognize our police officers, firefighters, and first responders for the work they do every day to protect and serve our community.
I have the pleasure of being a member of The American Legion, Sons of The American Legion, and American Legion Riders, and I am proud of what our entire American Legion Family accomplishes when we work together.
