A weekend of adventure and camaraderie at Heroes Ranch! 🇺🇸

Last week, Sheep Dog Impact Assistance welcomed a group of student Veterans from the University of Central Arkansas for an Outdoor Adventure filled with RZR riding at Rush Springs, archery, equine activities, hiking at Tanyard Creek Waterfall, and mountain biking.

Between the adventures, shared meals and evenings around the fire pit gave these Veterans time to connect beyond the classroom, share experiences, and enjoy being part of a community.

Thank you to our UCA participants, staff, and volunteers for a great weekend of getting off the couch and building connections!

🇺🇸 SHEEP DOG SPOTLIGHT | Honoring Operation Dragoon

More than 80 years after American paratroopers jumped into Southern France during WWII, longtime Sheep Dog Joseph Collins traveled to France to honor their legacy in a very special way.

Joseph participated in a commemorative parachute jump near Le Muy, France, retracing the history of Operation Dragoon, the Allied invasion of Southern France on August 15, 1944.

The jump was dedicated to Major John Apperson of the 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion, who led his paratroopers from a C-47 aircraft into Southern France. Tragically, just six days after the invasion, Major Apperson was killed when his jeep struck a German land mine.

Alongside fellow jumpers, Joseph honored the courage and sacrifice of the men known as the “Saint-Tropez Raiders,” carrying their legacy forward more than eight decades later. The experience also included visits to historic sites and a moving tribute at an American military cemetery.

A Marine Corps and Army veteran and longtime member of the SDIA family, Joseph’s dedication to honoring those who served before him is a powerful example of the Sheep Dog spirit.

We are proud of Joseph and his fellow jumpers for keeping the stories of America’s heroes alive for future generations. 🇺🇸

We are honored to continue our work as a Boulder Crest Foundation and Avalon Action Alliance partner, bringing Posttraumatic Growth training to our nation’s Sheep Dogs.

After completing five days of intensive Posttraumatic Growth training at SDIA Heroes Ranch, these warriors will now embark on a 90-day journey to put what they’ve learned into practice and in their daily lives.

Welcome home, Warriors! ❤️🇺🇸

DISASTER RESPONSE MISSION UPDATE

🌀 HURRICANE ISAIAS | OCTOBER 12, 2026

🇺🇸 NO DEPLOYMENT AT THIS TIME | SUPPORTING LOCAL RECOVERY

Sheep Dog Impact Assistance (SDIA) Disaster Response Mission leadership has continued monitoring Hurricane Isaias and assessing the impacts across the Florida Panhandle and surrounding Gulf Coast communities.

Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Destin, Florida, on October 9, bringing damaging winds, storm surge, flooding, and widespread power outages.

Following our assessment of the situation, SDIA will not be deploying a Disaster Response Mission at this time.

However, our decision not to deploy does not mean the need for assistance has ended.

Many communities are beginning the difficult process of recovery, and several outstanding local organizations are already on the ground providing critical assistance.

🇺🇸 HOW YOU CAN HELP

We encourage our Sheep Dog family, supporters, and fellow Americans to consider supporting these organizations:

❤️ BRACE (Be Ready Alliance Coordinating for Emergencies): Coordinating volunteer assistance and disaster recovery services in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

❤️ Feeding the Gulf Coast: Supporting families affected by the storm with emergency food and essential supplies.

❤️ Convoy of Hope: Distributing food, water, hygiene supplies, and other necessities in the Pace, Florida, area.

❤️ All Hands and Hearts: Supporting recovery efforts in Pensacola through community outreach and relief supplies.

❤️ United Way of Southwest Alabama: Providing a Hurricane Isaias Community Crisis Fund to assist families and local relief agencies.

Residents needing disaster assistance can call 211 to connect with local resources.

Those needing assistance with storm debris, fallen trees, roof tarping, or flood cleanup in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties can contact Crisis Cleanup at 1-800-451-1954.

At Sheep Dog Impact Assistance, our commitment to Engage, Assist, and Empower our nation's heroes and communities extends beyond our own deployments.

🌀 DISASTER RESPONSE | HURRICANE MONITORING UPDATE

As Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast, Sheep Dog Impact Assistance’s Disaster Response Mission (DRM) leadership is actively monitoring storm developments and assessing potential impacts on communities in its path.

Our team is tracking conditions, coordinating with response partners, and evaluating potential deployment needs while preparing our Sheep Dog volunteers for possible activation.

We encourage everyone in potentially affected areas to stay informed, prepare early, and follow guidance from local emergency management officials.

At our Donor Appreciation Dinner last week, we had the privilege of pausing for a special moment of remembrance at Heroes Ranch.

Three rooms at the Ranch were dedicated in honor of Fallen Heroes whose lives and legacies continue to inspire our mission: CWO3 Donovan Briley in Engleman Lodge, SOC Adam Brown in Apple Lodge, and Major Ray Hull in Gee Lodge.

Surrounded by their families and members of the Sheep Dog community, we were honored to recognize their service, sacrifice, and lasting impact. These dedications ensure that their stories remain part of Heroes Ranch and the healing, connection, and renewed purpose that happen here.

We are grateful to their families for allowing us to carry their legacies forward. Their names, their service, and their sacrifice will not be forgotten.🇺🇸

One step at a time.

The labyrinth at Heroes Ranch is a meaningful part of the Warrior PATHH journey. Unlike a maze, there are no wrong turns — just one path forward, creating space to slow down, reflect, and be present.

For centuries, labyrinths have been used as a practice of reflection, including by warriors preparing for and returning from battle. Today, that ancient practice carries a powerful reminder for our Sheep Dogs: moving forward doesn’t always mean moving quickly. Sometimes, it simply means taking the next step.🇺🇸

A beautiful evening with the people who help make our mission possible. ❤️

Last night, we welcomed donors and supporters to the LtCol Dick White Arena at Heroes Ranch for our 2026 Donor Dinner—a chance to gather, share our gratitude, and celebrate what their generosity has made possible.

2026 has been a big year for Heroes Ranch, with the opening of the LtCol Dick White Equine Arena and the Granite Mountain Training Facility, dedicated to the Granite Mountain Hotshots. We hosted the first Homefront Class for Warrior PATHH Spouses. We also added a loafing shed for our horses, welcomed the final additions to our equine herd, two miniature donkeys, and celebrated the birth of new Highland calves!

But the heart of the ranch is the transformation that happens here every day for our nation’s heroes. As our Warrior PATHH Director, Raffy Morales, shared last night, this is a place where hope is restored, lives are transformed, and growth takes root.

To every donor and supporter: thank you for helping make that restoration possible for the Military, Veterans, First Responders, and their families that we serve. We are grateful for each of you.
