Hey neighbors - I wanted to make you aware of another opportunity for donating. I recently talked with the Rogers Lions and they are desperate for fundraising dollars this year since most events have been cancelled. Sadly they are turning down local families in need of financial help due to illness/hardships etc. This is something in normal years they readily have the funds to do.

To help them out, they would love if people did the Fish and Shrimp Fry this year. Dates are Feb. 19th and March 5th. They are not preselling tickets, however, they would do voucher tickets for our neighborhood if we wanted to buy in advance. He said it’s nice to give some tix to local churches, post office, restaurants, sport organizations, or just people you know. Each voucher is $13 and you either get a Fish and Shrimp w/Fries meal or two kid meals. The day of the event is same price. The meals are drive thru/to go and the voucher would be good for either date.

**edited to include the voucher will say something like: "This meal voucher donated by Brockton Gives". If you do not want to hand out the vouchers the Lions will donate them to individuals/groups.

If interested feel free to send me a PM or email with how many you want. Thanks! Lindsay @ [email protected].

Hello again! This is Maria Quinn. Sorry if the last post was confusing. I am trying to gauge if any of you would be interested in doing a weekly lunch donation to local medical professional in our area. If there’s a lot of interest we could take turns actually calling in the order, or dropping off the food, or if not I can do it myself and you can just send me money. The only places I could think of were Rogers Walgreens and Maple Grove ER, but if there are other medical people you want to help out please comment below.

So, comment if you want to participate and we will go from there. Also if all you want to do is shoot me a few bucks once a week, I’ll list my cash aps.

Thanks for your help! I know the two places I have helped so far were incredibly grateful as they feel like they are fighting an invisible war all alone.

Hey Everyone this is Maria Quinn

Last week I posted on the Brockton Meadows page about setting up a weekly food donation to local medical professionals in our area. I asked doctors and nurses I went to high school or college with what are ways that the average person can help them right now and got some great suggestions. First and foremost, they want us to stay the F home and wear masks. Secondly they said food donations are great, and that donations pretty much stopped over the summer. Also they mentioned that prepackaged items like things you would put in a kids lunch (Rice Krispies/cookies/crackers/chips) are great as many places won’t allow them to share cookies someone made. And finally they said not to forget the night shift! Things can be dropped off start of shift at 9pm or end of shift at 5am.

So how does this work logistically: Last Friday I ordered 8 pizzas and 3 cinnamon sticks through the Dominos Ap and had them sent to Maple Grove ER. I called ahead and said I wanted to order them lunch and asked how many people would be there around 11:30am. They said it’s usually 20 people. The total with tip was $200 which I think spread out over 10 people is very doable. I then called again when I saw that the Dominos driver was almost there and told them it would be there in 5 and to be on the look out. Super easy and they were really appreciative.

Maple Grove is currently nearly at capacity with Covid patients, so I think they are a great place to focus on, but what other local medical staff could use our help as well? I also dropped off some target cookies to the Walgreens pharmacists because where the hell would we all be if they stopped filling meds? Are there any other local hospitals or clinics that are strained right now as well that you know of? Feel free to brainstorm below.
