Program "He Dared to Sign: William Floyd of Mastick",
his life and times as a Signer of the Declaration of Independence
by MaryLaura Lamont.
The program will precede the meeting so please come on time!

We will have a table at the Oyster Jamboree, TODAY, Aug. 15th, presenting the story of the Cordwood Industry on the North Shore with our very own ‘traveling timber’ from the Shipwreck, the “E. Brush!” You will hear tales of schooners, view and touch an actual rib from the wreck that was buried under the sand for ages! An antique anchor, found in a garden in Rocky Point, adds an interesting artifact to our mysterious story! Also available at our table will be 2 of our books: “Jesse’s Ride,” a patriotic, children’s book about a 10 year old’s adventure in 1828 in Rocky Point. “Vessel Ashore at Rocky Point,” documents the search for the Hallock Landing shipwreck.

Another busy Saturday at the Hallock Homestead Museum. History Hunt visitors were looking to have their Passport books stamped! We got out our “Harry’s” sign for Jeremy Pohl to admire! Maybe we can arrange a presentation by family members about “Harry’s” in the future! Stay tuned!

On Saturday, we had 29 visitors! Some were snapping “selfies” at our special History Hunt location, some wanted their Passport Books stamped and many took tours of our museum, keeping our docents very busy. We are most definitely, ‘on the map!’

We are acquiring a Hallock farm building! The deconstruction process has begun and the homeowners have saved the old tin shingles for us to reuse!
