Today, we ask our Nash EMS family and community to keep one of our own in your thoughts and prayers.

Our brother, Al, has recently been diagnosed with glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer. As an Advanced EMT, Al has spent years serving the citizens of Nash County with compassion, dedication, and professionalism, always answering the call when others needed help.

Now, Al faces a fight of his own.

Please join us in praying for strength, comfort, healing, and peace for Al and his family in the days ahead. We are grateful for the support of our community and know that together we can surround him with the same care and encouragement he has given so many others.

Al, your Nash EMS family stands with you.

Huge thank you to some of the guys from Sharpsburg Fire Department for standing by at the station and covering for West Mount so our guys could go and pay respects to one of our own. This is what a brotherhood is all about, being there for each other in times of need and making sure the community is always protected! Bud, rest easy sir- we will take it from here!

We are extremely saddened to hear of the loss of our former firefighter and more importantly our friend Bud Pridgen. If you knew Bud you know how easy it was to call him friend. He would tell anyone who would listen all the old time stories and he would have you laughing so hard your side would hurt. If you ever met Bud Pridgen, you would never forget him. His personality was the type that left an impact on everyone who had the honor of knowing him.

Bud proudly served in the military and dedicated many years to the fire service, retiring from West Mount Volunteer Fire Department. Bud did a lot of wonderful things for our local fire and EMS services. He truly loved serving the community and he put his heart into it. We had the honor of giving him a special award at our 2025 Christmas party thanking him for all he did for West Mount!

Most importantly Bud loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and he would always encourage everyone he met, if you dont know Him you should. I know that tonight Bud is face to face with the Savior and that brings comfort to us.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Pridgen family and everyone who loved Bud. Rest easy Bud, we will take it from here.
