🌊😃Hey everyone, have you heard the news? The turtles are finally here! It's time to adopt them and give them a loving home. The 4th Annual Teeny Tiny Turtles on the Tar event is happening soon, and it's going to be a blast! Mark your calendars for July 29th and get ready for a day of fun and excitement.
We wanted to share an important challenge with you. We have 2,000 turtles that need a home, and we're hoping to find them all loving families. We're asking for your help in getting these amazing turtles adopted! By adopting a turtle, you'll not only be providing a forever home for one of these adorable creatures, but you'll also be supporting our mission to help over 1,800 youth in the Twin Counties.
This isn’t just a race with 2,000 rubber turtles trying to make it to the finish line, it’s a race where our most precious and vulnerable commodities: our children, and our future, are trying to make it over the line in a race fraught with hurdles.
We’re up to the challenge, and we know you are too. You can purchase your turtles today by clicking the following link: https://www.duckrace.com/rockymount
Also, you can always support your favorite teams! This year we have the following teams you can support by using the below links:
Bankin' on Franklin, First Carolina Bank's Team:
We just wanted to give a shoutout to the amazing team at First Carolina Banks who have been such great supporters of our organization. Did you know that they have a goal of selling 400 Turtles? And the best part is, they've won top team sellers every year! It's always inspiring to see such dedicated and passionate individuals working towards a common goal.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tar River Region Board of Directors have been such a valuable asset to our organization, and their hard work and dedication are truly appreciated. Did you know that they have set a goal of selling 200 Turtles this year? It's an ambitious target, but I have no doubt that they will achieve it.

Critter Catchers:
I'm excited to share that we have a new team on board this year to help us serve over 1,800 youth in the Twin Counties! The Critter Catchers are a new addition to our team, and they're representing the Wildlife Rehabbers in Nash & Edgecombe County. Their goal is to sell 400 turtles, and I have a feeling they're going to do great! It's always inspiring to see new groups come together to support such an important cause. Yertle the Turtle, Rocky Mount Chamber's Team:
The Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors are a really cool group of people who act as the bridge between the community and the Chamber of Commerce. They're always so enthusiastic and supportive, like real cheerleaders! They are team Yertle the Turtle and they're aiming to sell 200 turtles.

Remember, for each turtle you purchase, you have a chance to win as well! 1st place wins $500, 2nd place wins $250 and 3rd place wins $100. Once all the turtles are sold, they will be dropped from the Peachtree Street Bridge at the Rocky Mount Mills campus (don’t worry, no turtles are harmed during this event).
On July 29th, our community is coming together to watch the turtles cross the Tar River. It's going to be such a fun event, and the best part is that it's completely free! We'd love for you to join us if you can make it. But if you can't, don't worry! We'll be streaming the entire event live on Facebook, so you won't miss a thing.
After the race is over, we DO NOT leave the remaining rubber turtles in the Tar River to pollute our waterways. Part of what makes this event so fun and a community effort is members of the RM Fire Department water rescue unit take charge of the turtles once they hit the water.
