Rocky Hill, it's official... the rainbow heart crosswalk near the Community Center is painted and looking fantastic! 🌈
Getting here took a while. What started as an idea in the Spring of 2024, and a petition, became an initial and then expanded art policy, and the creation of a non-profit. We had public conversations, listened to feedback, and worked through the process with Town Council. Turns out doing something for the first time takes a little longer than you'd think!
Huge thanks to the artist, KRS ART, town staff for coordinating the installation and the Rocky Hill Community Fund with Greater Hartford Gives for the grant funding that helped bring this to life. This one was a team effort in every sense.
Come check it out near the entrance to the Community Center! And don't put your camera away just yet, the dinosaur footprint crosswalk on Church Street is stomping its way to completion later this week too. 🦕
Once both are complete, we'll do a ribbon cutting to make it official as well! Y'all are invited!
Proud of this town.
In addition to this project, In just a few short months we've seen:
-Dozens of historic photos installed in Town Hall
-Enlarged historic photos displayed on the exterior of Rocky Hill Historical Society & Academy Hall Museum
-Make Music Day host multiple free music events around the Town Center
Rocky Hill's Town Center is buzzing with Art!
We're also looking forward to more public art to come!
