Wildfire update: A new wildfire sparked Sunday in northern Colorado’s mountains, forcing evacuations near Stagecoach State Park in Routt County, according to county officials.

Gov. Jared Polis declared a disaster emergency in response, according to a release from his office.

🖤 Heartbroken for Our Wildland Community

Our hearts are heavy today following the tragic news out of southwestern Colorado. While assisting ground crews on the Gold Mountain Fire, a firefighting aircraft went down in the Silver Jack Reservoir Sunday evening.

Out of respect for the family during the notification process, names are currently being withheld.

The entire Colorado fire service stands together in grief. We send our deepest condolences, love, and prayers to the pilot's family, friends, and fellow crew members during this unimaginably difficult time. 🏔️🚁🚒

The Gold Mountain Fire has burned 35,600 acres in southwestern Colorado as authorities investigate what caused the firefighting aircraft to go down.

True heroes look like this.

Check out this incredible 9News article on the volunteer firefighters of Beulah, Colorado. Facing historic winds, they successfully saved the town of Beulah from the devastating Aspen Acres Fire. 💪🚒💪

But the victory came at a heartbreaking personal cost. While these brave neighbors were running toward the smoke to protect others, several of them lost their own homes to the blaze. They lost everything to ensure their community lost nothing. 💔
