Help is still needed.

MFF Katie Dennison is still in her treatment phase for cancer. Transportation to and from her appointments is still being arranged. These appointments are generally in Baltimore and last 4-5 hours barring any complications. The first group of people have done an amazing job. There is a link below to a Google document with dates and times of appointments. The Google doc is a live document and updates when appointments are added, so you can check it at anytime for additional appointments as they are made. If you do sign up, please send James Leinhauser or Bradley Wilt a message. Having a driver allows Katie to spend time with her daughter and not be worn out from a day of traveling. The 2nd Annual Battle of the Badges Police vs. Fire Charity Hockey game is Saturday, April 18th at The Rockville Ice Arena. The puck drops at 1:40 pm as Hooligan Hockey will skate against the FOP 35ers for bragging rights. Proceeds from the game will benefit the Montgomery County Career Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation and the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Officers Relief Fund. After the game, join the after party at World Of Beer in Rockville, where a portion of the sales will be donated to the cause as well. Details of the after party are in the comments. Spring is here and registration is now open for the 51st Annual Bobby Jones Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, June 1st at Beaver Creek Country Club. The fundraising link is still active. You all have come through generously in the past, however we expect some additional expenses moving forward during her treatment. Sister Katie Dennison is a Master Firefighter at Station 33A. She has been a long time advocate for fire fighter health, wellness and injury prevention along with being a personal trainer. She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Sister Dennnison is a single mother of a two year old daughter.

Katie has a long road ahead of her while she undergoes treatment. The Montgomery County Career Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation has been working to assist Katie. She will have many challenges and expenses ahead for her and her young daughter. Further assistance is being requested with this fundraiser.

One year ago today, we lost Brother Chris Higgins in the line of duty. His legacy lives on every day as we remember him and his dedication to service. His tragic passing left a hole in the lives of so many of his family and throughout the fire service. His impact will forever be part of Montgomery County public safety. His tragic death ultimately lead to the passage of the HERO Act, which provides protections to family survivors of those who die in the line of duty in Montgomery County. Gone but never forgotten.

Today, we pause and reflect, reminding ourselves not to take a single day for granted. Our thoughts remain with his family today and always, carrying them in our hearts as we honor his memory.

We also remember the work of Chris’s shift, whose dedication and determination helped turn grief into meaningful change. Their efforts were instrumental in getting the HERO Act passed in Montgomery County, ensuring Chris’s legacy lives on through protections and recognition for those who continue to serve.

Gone, but never forgotten. Chris’s impact will always be felt in our firehouses, our community, and our hearts.
