The Montgomery County NAACP Women in the NAACP (WIN) Committee invites you to join us for a powerful discussion of Michelle Obama’s The Light We Carry.

This inspiring book explores how we navigate uncertainty, build resilience, strengthen our relationships, and find hope during life’s most challenging moments. We will engage in a meaningful conversation about the importance of community, self-care, and supporting one another.

The NAACP Montgomery County Branch proudly celebrated Juneteenth at the BlackRock Center for the Arts, joining community leaders, advocates, and residents in honoring freedom, resilience, and Black excellence.

The Branch was proud to participate in the 2026 African American Living Legends Award Presentation, a special Juneteenth celebration honoring extraordinary individuals whose lives and contributions have enriched our community. Congratulations to Executive Board memeber and Legal Redress Chair Millie West-Wiggins who was honored as a 2026 Montgomery County Liiving Legend honoree.

The program also featured outstanding performances by our ACT-SO students showcasing the remarkable talent and promise of our young people. From spoken word and musical selections to award presentations, the students demonstrated why ACT-SO remains one of the NAACP's premier youth achievement programs. The ACT-SO students participating in the program included:

• Zion Johnson – Junior, Seneca Valley High School
• Jacqueline Daphnis – Junior, Albert Einstein High School

• Russell Price II – Graduate of Morgan State University

The Montgomery County Maryland Branch NAACP was represented by Vice President Carolyn Brockman who offered greetings and support on behalf of the Branch. We were also proud Branch Vice President Cherri Branson, who served on the program as Co-Chair of the County Executive's African American Advisory Group, helped make this meaningful celebration possible.

Thank you to WIN Committee Co-Chair Lorna Forde for organizing an engaging and impactful Juneteenth panel discussion, "Protecting Our Voice: Truth, Power, & Leadership," featuring distinguished leaders addressing issues critical to our communities. The NAACP Montgomery County Branch was proud to serve as a co-sponsor of this important conversation on civic engagement, economic equity, leadership, and combating misinformation.

Join the Montgomery County NAACP as we celebrate Juneteenth at the BlackRock Center for the Arts, 12901 Town Commons Drive, Germantown, Maryland.

We are proud to honor NAACP Living Legend Millie West-Wiggins at 11:00 a.m. and showcase the incredible talents of our ACT-SO students on the Main Stage at 1:30 p.m.

ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological, and Scientific Olympics) highlights the excellence, creativity, and achievement of high school students in academics, the arts, science, and technology.

Bring your family and friends for a day of celebration, culture, inspiration, and community as we commemorate Juneteenth and support the next generation of leaders and innovators.

Join the Montgomery County Women in the NAACP (WIN) Committee for Black Women & Power: A Political Salon, an engaging and thought-provoking conversation examining today’s most pressing political issues and the ways Black women are uniquely impacted by policy decisions at the local, state, and national levels.

From voting rights and economic opportunity to healthcare, education, reproductive freedom, public safety, and representation in leadership, Black women often stand at the intersection of multiple challenges while continuing to serve as one of the most influential forces for change in our communities and across the nation. This salon will create space for honest dialogue, shared experiences, and meaningful discussion about the opportunities and obstacles facing Black women in today’s political climate.
