AMSS and Partners Launch Groundbreaking National Mental Health Training for Imams, Community Leaders and Service Providers.

The American Muslim Senior Society (AMSS), in partnership with the American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP), the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) GGEAR Program, and the Muslim Community Center (MCC), proudly launched the nation's first Culturally Competent Mental Health Train-the-Trainer Toolkit for Imams, Community Leaders, and Service Providers, developed by Dr. Linda Humaidan (AMSS/AMHP Consultant on the Project).
On July 26, 2026, 42 participants, including Imams, community leaders, and Service Providers, completed the Mental Health training, equipping them with culturally responsive tools to support mental health within Muslim communities. Developed as a national best-practice model, this groundbreaking initiative is expected to expand across the United States, strengthening faith-based mental health leadership.

On July 26, 2026, AMSS, in partnership with the UMB GGEAR Program, American Muslim Health Professionals (AMHP), and the Muslim Community Center (MCC), will host the Imams and Community Leaders Mental Health Train-the-Trainer Workshop, equipping participants with skills to recognize mental health concerns, reduce stigma, provide initial support, and connect individuals to appropriate resources.
