Melanoma prevention is at risk, join us and take action today!

We are actively mobilizing to demand that Congress protect the $6 million in funding for the CDC’s Skin Cancer Prevention Program, a vital, life-saving initiative now facing elimination.

The President’s FY26 budget proposal completely eliminates this program the nation’s only federal effort focused solely on preventing skin cancer, despite rising melanoma rates and the proven effectiveness of prevention strategies.

If Congress fails to act, this will dismantle:

- All CDC cancer prevention efforts
- The Melanoma Dashboard, used to track and reduce skin cancer at the local level
- Funding for state prevention programs and sun safety education

Melanoma is one of the most preventable forms of cancer. Without these critical programs, lives will be lost.

It’s been exactly 21 years today, on the 21st of April, that we lost our remarkable dad to Melanoma skin cancer. His wisdom, warmth, guidance, medical expertise and care for his patients, advice and unconditional love for his family are missed each and every day. His strong presence and bright light lives on in all of his children and grandchildren.

Melanoma is not only preventable but is also curable when caught early.

Today is Melanoma Monday -- the perfect time to check yourself and family members, and schedule an appointment with your dermatologist. While we aren't able to host our annual May skin screenings due to COVID-19, don't forget about your skin during quarantine and stay tuned for an update on Fall skin screenings. Sunny days are upon us so please remember to "Catch the Craze and Block the Rayz"...wear your sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours.
