MoCo Pride Center Serving the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community in Montgomery County, MD.

The MoCo Pride Center is a 501c3 organization designed to serve the LGBTQ (Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Q***r/Questioning) community and its allies in Montgomery County, Maryland. Our vision is to be the leading organization for LGBTQ resources and advocacy in our county. Our mission is to organize, support, educate, and provide outreach to the LGBTQ community and its allies. The MoCo Pride Center will be built to:
• Promote dignity and respect for all individuals;
• Encourage authenticity and honesty in self-expression;
• Connect community members and create a network of support for youth, adults, and families;
• Organize and engage the LGBTQ community and our allies to build a movement to advance the rights, dignity and respect of all members of our community

Our "Neuroqueer" group for LGBTQIA+ folks that have autism, ADHD, dyslexia or other learning disabilities, and/or Tourette Syndrome meets, and then the Board Games begin!

TODAY (10/17) Join us for a FREE sewing class! Our sewist-in-residence Sam-Mayes (they/them) at Mayes Makes returns to teach you the basics of hand-stitching.

Beginners are encouraged and new dates for classes are added at the beginning of each month.

Sam-Mayes also offers personal alteration and mending help through MoCo Pride Center — feel free to speak to them one-on-one before or after class about personal projects!

Every month, our Pride Center provides essential food and wellness items to vulnerable community members through our Care Kit Distribution Program, though it can sometimes be a challenge to keep the Center fully stocked. To help us keep our shelves stocked, please visit our Amazon Wishlist at MoCoPrideCenter.org/Support! Items are prioritized by urgency and kept up to date by our staff.

Our greatest needs this month are….
- Bottled water: hydration is key!
- Tuna: portable protein source for those experiencing food insecurity
- Body wipes: short-term hygiene solution for those in difficult living situations
- Pocket first-aid kits: wound care for those without easy access to medical care
- Hand sanitizer: safety measure for everyone
- Travel size lotion: wellness item part of any care routine
- Printer ink: for Pride Center operations like event flyers and informational materials

TONIGHT (10/15) is our monthly in-person meeting date for Hope & Support Circle at MoCo Pride Center! Connect with other members of the LGBTQIA+ community face-to-face from 7-8 PM at 4805 Edgemoor Lane in Bethesda. This weekly meeting group is designed to provide empowerment, joy, and resources for all ☀️

THIS SUNDAY (10/18) we have TWO programs on the MoCo Pride Center calendar!

Are you neurodivergent and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community? "Neuroqueer" is a meet-up group for LGBTQIA+ folks that have autism, ADHD, dyslexia or other learning disabilities, and/or Tourette Syndrome. If this sounds like you, connect with others in the MoCo Pride Center library from 12 - 2 PM the 3rd Sunday of every month! You are also encouraged to bring your own lunch to the group. Stay after the social group for Board Game Night! You can play board games at MoCo Pride Center twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays. Inclusive board games will be provided by both the Center and event organizers, and you’re invited to bring your own games too. Newcomers are welcome! In just over a week away we'll host our Halloween vendor market on Saturday, 10/24, featuring special guests Kin & Tsugi Craft Club ! This astounding small business will be hosting a FREE skills and crafting workshop from 2-3 PM during the market called "Linocutting the Deck," a tarot-themed linocut and block printing class.

MoCo Pride Center and Kin & Tsugi will provide all the materials for this workshop: rubber blocks to cut, carving tools, brayers, ink, and paper. All you have to bring is yourself and your enthusiasm for crafting! Stop by Kin & Tsugi's table at the market to learn more about supporting their work.

Tuesdays at MoCo Pride Center Bethesda mean FREE STI and HIV testing with Us Helping Us ! No insurance required, all safe and confidential. Tests only take 5 minutes and you get a free gift card when you participate (while supplies last)! Anyone aged 13 years old or above can get tested without parental consent.

Can't come in on a Tuesday? Drop in on any day of the week to pick up an individual rapid test. We'll walk you through the process! We also have resources on hand to make sure your care continues after you complete your test.

On Monday, November 2nd, join us for the first meeting of Melanin Mondays, a virtual peer-led support group for Q***r, Trans, Intersex, Black, Indigenous communities and People of Color!

Every Monday following, from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM (EST), via Zoom, we aim to create a space of understanding, connection, and support in the face of ongoing challenges and attacks on our communities while navigating compounding systems of oppression, unique cultural dynamics, and distinct spaces of resilience and joy. Whether you’re looking for encouragement, resources, or simply a place to be heard, you are welcome here!
