Nourish Now

Nourish Now's mission is to solve two major social issues simultaneously: food waste and hunger. metro area.

Nourish Now works to alleviate food insecurity in Montgomery County, MD and beyond by reducing the waste of unused fresh food. We strive to meet these goals by collecting surplus fresh food from our dedicated food donor partners throughout the Washington D.C. Food is then redistributed directly to families in need and to over 70 other local nonprofit organizations that provide food assistance regionally.

We appreciate the generous grant of $10,000 from the Adventist Health Care Community Partnership Fund to provide nutritious food for 2000 people in Montgomery County, MD in need of food assistance.

Nourish Now is pleased to announce we have been awarded an FY27 Community Quality of Life grant from the City of Takoma Park, MD - Municipal Government. This funding will support our mission of ending hunger through food recovery.

What started as a question I kept asking myself — and could never find a logical answer to — was:
“Why is there so much fresh food being wasted while children and families struggle every day without enough food to survive?”
I dreamed of a world where food is treated as sacred. A world where communities work together to ensure fresh food reaches the people who need it most.
It all started with my very first recovery: bagels from Panera Bread. As I drove to donate the food, my entire Accord was filled with the warm aroma of cinnamon and sesame. In that moment, I felt a deep sense of purpose in my soul.
Over time, that dream became reality.
Through the dedication, generosity, and compassion of countless people throughout our community, a movement began to grow. I wish I could name every single person whose impact helped make 30 million pounds of recovered and donated food possible — but it would take days.
What I can say is this: it has been one of the greatest honors of my life to witness thousands upon thousands of people step up to help their community.
There is still so much work to do in the fight against food waste and hunger, but today I simply want to say thank you. The problem may not disappear overnight, but the impact of your kindness and efforts is endless.
Congratulations to everyone who has helped make a difference through this organization.

And we don’t stop. Summer break is not a pause for us, as we continue to support summer camps with healthy meals.

This was our impact in 2025, and we continue expanding in 2026. We are currently serving 6,400 children each month who face food insecurity.

Together, we keep showing up to ensure no child goes hungry.

We had an amazing time at Family Engagement Night celebrating elementary school students 🤗🎊 and their families, sharing meals, laughter, activities, and conversations about who we are and why we do what we do.
