🎶 “আশার আলোয়” — এক সুরময় শ্রদ্ধার্ঘ্য কিংবদন্তি শিল্পী আশা ভোঁসলে-কে।

এই বছর ১২ই এপ্রিল সুরের জগতে ঘটেছে এক উজ্জ্বল নক্ষত্র পতন। “Voice of Bollywood” খ্যাত এই মহান শিল্পী তাঁর কণ্ঠের জাদুতে আট থেকে আশি—সব শ্রোতাকেই মুগ্ধ করে রেখেছেন যুগের পর যুগ। তাঁর কণ্ঠ সময়কে ছাপিয়ে বেঁচে থাকবে প্রজন্ম থেকে প্রজন্মে। Classic থেকে Cabaret—সব ধারাতেই ছিল তাঁর অবাধ বিচরণ।

তাঁর প্রায় ১২,০০০ গানের ভাণ্ডার থেকে বেছে নেওয়া সুরের মালায় আমরা স্মরণ করব আশাজীকে।

🎭✨ Our next presentation at Sanskriti Baisakhi 2026 is a special dance and narration tribute by Utsav Group to the Bard of Brahmaputra, Bhupen Hazarika.

As Bhupen Hazarika’s birth centenary is being celebrated this year in India and in the US, this performance honors the timeless legacy of the legendary artist known as ‘ব্রহ্মপুত্রের চারণকবি’. His extraordinary cultural contributions continue to inspire generations.

এই অসামান্য শিল্পীকে শ্রদ্ধা জানাতে মঞ্চে আসছে সাংস্কৃতিক দল ‘উৎসব’—নৃত্য ও কথনের মাধ্যমে এক আন্তরিক নিবেদন।

🎶 Join us at Sanskriti Baisakhi 2026 for a special sitar–tabla duet by Sibasish Laha on sitar and Arnab Gadre on tabla.

Sibasish Laha, a NASA scientist and recipient of the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal (2022), is also a deeply committed student of Indian classical music. He began his musical training with his grandmother, Ms. Pranati Nag, and later trained with renowned teachers including Pandit Arun Bhattacharya, Pandit Bimolendu Banerjee, Shakir Khan, and currently Kaustav Majumder. He has performed in Kolkata, Pune, London, Belfast, San Diego, and DC.

Accompanying him is Arnab Gadre, who has trained in tabla for over 15 years under Taalmani Pt. Mukundraj Deo ji. He earned his Tabla Visharad from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and has accompanied classical, semi-classical, and fusion artists, including UPenn’s Penn Sargam ensemble.

Come enjoy an evening of melody, rhythm, and rich musical dialogue. ✨

🎶 The evening culminates with “রাগে ও রঙে,” a vibrant finale weaving voice, melody, and rhythm to explore the classical roots of Bengali music.

🌟 This first-of-its-kind DC presentation brings together an exceptional trio: New York–based Hindustani classical vocalist Sanchari Bhattacharyya, joined by renowned DMV artists Soumya Chakraverty on Sarod and Debapriya (Debu) Nayak on Tabla — musicians celebrated across iconic stages from the Kennedy Center to the Library of Congress.

🎼 Together, they guide the audience through a time-layered journey of classical Ragas expressed through Bengali musical traditions — Rabindrasangeet, Nazrulgeeti, Raag-prodhan, and complementary instrumental pieces.

💫 Prepare to be immersed in a rich, melodic tapestry that celebrates the timeless soul of Bengali music.

Join us as we come together to celebrate Baishakhi (বৈশাখী) with an evening filled with culture, music, dance, drama, and community spirit.

✨ Enjoy a vibrant lineup of performances by talented local artists, including children’s presentations, music, drama, dance, and a special sitar–tabla jugalbandi.

🎶 The evening’s finale, “রাগে ও রঙে”, will feature acclaimed New York-based vocalist Sanchari Bhattacharyya, accompanied by Devapriya Nayak on tabla and Soumya Chakraverty on sarod.

Dear Sanskriti Members,

With a heavy heart, we regret to inform you that the Sanskriti Saraswati Puja event scheduled for this weekend (February 7, 2026) has been canceled due to potential adverse weather conditions. Despite our best efforts, the weather was beyond our control. After careful consideration, concerns related to attendee safety, poor road conditions, and overall travel risks led us to this difficult decision. Your safety and well-being remain our highest priority.

However, we are not abandoning our plans for the youth competitions and cultural programs. Our very talented community members were ready to take the stage and enthrall us with a wide spectrum of performances. We remain committed in supporting them in our next event. All cultural performances and youth competitions (art and recitation) will take place at Sanskriti’s Baishakhi event on May 2, 2026. We truly look forward to celebrating together with even more energy and enthusiasm at Baisakhi, and we hope all our participants will join us then.
