The Tree House Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County, MD is a nonprofit charity organization dedicated to helping reduce trauma and promote healing for child and adolescent victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and neglect. Through the collaboration of private and public sectors, we provide effective, early intervention to ensure that child or adolescent victims of abuse can develop into h

At Tree House CAC, we show up every day for children and families healing from abuse and trauma — through medical exams, therapy, and advocacy.

Early intervention changes lives, and we believe the cycle of abuse can be broken.

🏥Our final Champions for Children 2026 honoree introduction!
Our Corporate Hero award recognizes an organization whose partnership has directly protected the children who walk through our doors. This year, that honor goes to Johns Hopkins Health Plans. Pictured is Dr. Nina Everette, Chief Medical Officer of JHHP Priority Partners, who toured our offices last month to learn more about all of the clinical services we provide to children and families in Montgomery County and Maryland.
As a leading institution in pediatric medicine and child health research, Johns Hopkins has shown deep commitment to the wellbeing of the survivors we serve. When an urgent need put our young clients at risk, Johns Hopkins Health Plans stepped in with critical support at a crucial moment — helping ensure children could get care without delay.

🌟 Continuing our Champions for Children 2026 honoree introductions!
Our Community Hero award honors leadership that strengthens the entire system protecting children in Montgomery County. This year, we're celebrating Lisa Merkin, Administrator of Montgomery County Child Welfare Services.
For years, Lisa has built collaborative partnerships between government, law enforcement, and community organizations. During the pandemic — one of the most difficult periods in the county's history for child protection — her steady leadership helped guide both investigations and continuity of care for vulnerable families.

🌳 Champions for Children 2026 is just 2 months away — and we're kicking off introductions to this year's honorees!
Each year, we recognize an Individual Hero: someone whose personal commitment has helped our young clients heal. This year, that's Jill Lyons.
For over five years, Jill has been a steadfast friend to The Tree House. Her connection began through a close relationship with a child who visited us — and that experience opened the door to a deeply meaningful partnership. Jill and the members of the Leisure World clubs she introduced to us, including Helping Neighbors In Need, ACTS, Sew for Kids, and others, have turned their time and energy into steady support for the families we serve.
We're proud to honor Jill as our 2026 Individual Hero. 💚

Taco Bar recently pledged a portion of their sales from a full day to support The Tree House — and we couldn't be more grateful. In addition to their generosity, they're serving up some of the most delicious Mexican food in the county.

Did you know July is National Ice Cream month? 🍦This week, the Tree House team, and our partners in Child Welfare Services and MCPD Special Victims Division, celebrated with a visit from Carmen's Italian Ice & Cafe ! They've been a major part of the Rockville community and an amazing partner for schools, and organizations like ours. Thank you for visiting us!!
