As stated on our national website, The members of the Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars live by the motto, “Honor the dead by helping the living.” We set out to serve the veterans of this country and our communities as a testament to the sacrifices and commitment of every man and woman who has served in uniform.
2. Auxiliary VFW members are...
Wives, husbands, widows, widowers, mothers,
fathers, foster and steps (who have performed the duties of parent), grandmothers-fathers, daughters-sons, granddaughters-sons, foster and steps (who attained that status prior to age sixteen and for whom the duties of parent were performed), sisters, brothers, half sisters-brothers, foster and steps (who attained that status prior to age sixteen) of persons who were or are eligible for membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. [If you are a U.S. citizen who has served or is currently serving honorably in the Armed Forces and has served in an overseas conflict, you are eligible to become a member of the VFW]
Members must be citizens of the United States and not less than sixteen years old. Women/Men eligible for membership in the VFW shall be eligible for dual membership in the Auxiliary.
3.Why the VFW? Our common goal is supporting veterans and their families. Some join because of their desire to help others through our community service programs; in addition to helping others, there are many personal benefits to an individual who joins.
