As part of our Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, we’re spotlighting Atlas Build Solutions, a Rockville-based full-service contractor making serious moves! 🔧⚡

Specializing in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and steel construction, Atlas has grown from two employees and $100,000 in revenue to 48 employees and $10 million projected this year. Recent wins include a federal contract to fabricate a one-of-a-kind sign for the Army Museum of Virginia.

FY26 was a year of pressure and momentum in equal measure, and Rockville's economy met the moment.

Our FY26 Annual Report is here, and the numbers tell the story: $1.54B in private investment across 22 deals inside city limits, including a landmark $700M nuclear energy round from X-energy. 56 new businesses chose Rockville. A record incentive year with 30 grants supporting 306 new jobs. And through Founders Rising, we helped displaced federal workers launch their next chapter.

Today's State of the City was an exciting look at what's happening in Rockville. Mayor Ashton provided insight into Rockville's strong position as a community, including the following highlights:

🌟 As a result of the Zoning Ordinance Rewrite, permits that used to take 18 months now only take 6
🌟 Strategic economic development is top of mind, with 56 new companies coming to the city last year
🌟 An ecosystem of support created by programs like MWBC's Founders Rising and organizations like REDI, the Chamber of Commerce, and local nonprofits
🌟 Plans to annex the Shady Grove metro area, adding a third metro station to Rockville
🌟 Opportunities for affordable housing near public transit

Last week, Rockville celebrated the renovation and rededication of Lincoln Park Community Center! 🎨☀️

Located in Rockville's historic Lincoln Park neighborhood, the newly renovated center now features Rockville's first municipal solar energy system, improved accessibility, modern amenities, a new STEM and STEAM lab, and expanded fitness and gathering spaces. The rooftop solar system's 80 panels are expected to offset about 40% of the facility's electricity use, generating more than 43,000 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy each year.

The rededication also honored the restoration of "Untitled," a 1993 mural originally painted by Lincoln Park youth under artist Margery Albertini, and the unveiling of a new community mural, "Color Full Community," created by Rose Jaffe in collaboration with Lincoln Park residents. Together, the two murals reflect the neighborhood's history, people, and enduring sense of community.

Investments like these are what make Rockville such a special place to live, work, and gather.
