Parke County Community Foundation For Good... For Ever... For Parke County The Foundation’s approach to planned giving offers a number of important financial benefits to donors.

The Parke County Community Foundation is a tax-exempt public charity that allows-community minded individuals, through gifts and bequests, to establish a variety of permanent endowment funds under the umbrella of one foundation. The income from these separate funds allows a community to respond to emerging needs and opportunities as well as impact its future. Part of what makes Parke County a special place to live is its strong sense of community. Local donors and their connections to innovative nonprofit work have created a special community culture, a place where many are served and many give. So whether a donor specifies a purpose, or uses the Foundation to identify the emerging needs of the community, donor opportunities for making a difference in the future of Parke County are plentiful through their relationship with the Parke County Community Foundation.

Way to Go! Grant 🎉

Andrew Akers, Parke County Community Foundation Board Member, presented a Way to Go! Grant to AMVETS Post 61 of Rockville in recognition of their annual Clothe-a-Child fundraiser! ❤️

The Way to Go! Grant program allows PCCF Board, Committee, and Staff members to recognize local nonprofit organizations whose efforts make a meaningful difference in our community.

Thank you to AMVETS Post 61 for helping local children and families, and for making a positive impact in Parke County! 👏

Thanks to Jim Meece and Paul Wilson, our new signs are going up just in time for the Covered Bridge Festival!

As you travel from bridge to bridge, take a moment to learn a little history and discover how you can help preserve these special pieces of Parke County’s heritage for generations to come. ❤️

Every dollar donated goes directly to the Parke County Public Covered Bridges Fund, helping support the preservation of these historic treasures that make our community so special.

✨ Meet Our Board | Janett Allen ✨

Next up in our PCCF Board of Directors Spotlight series is our Board Secretary, Janett Allen! ❤️

A lifelong Parke County resident, Janett is a retired Registered Nurse who spent her career in Maternal and Family Health with Union Health Group in Terre Haute. Her love for Parke County, its people, small communities, and natural beauty has inspired her to continue serving the place she has always called home. 🏡

After retiring, Janett was looking for new ways to get involved in her community, and PCCF’s Scholarship Program quickly caught her attention! 🎓 She has since served on the Scholarship Committee and now serves as Secretary of our Board of Directors, as well as a member of the Grants Committee and Rockville Forever Committee.

❤️ And her community involvement doesn’t stop there! Janett is active with Rockville Christian Church, the Parke County Food Pantry, Valley Professionals Community Health, Rockville Woman’s Club, and more. She also enjoys being a “Reading Neighbor” for second graders at Rockville Elementary School! 📚

When she isn’t volunteering, Janett enjoys spending time with her husband, Andy, their two daughters, three grandsons (who she happily describes as “the best!”), and two sons-in-law.

And here’s a fun fact about Janett! 🦋 Each summer, she raises and releases Monarch butterflies, sometimes caring for as many as 60–70 caterpillars through their transformation before releasing them back into nature!

We are grateful for the compassion, dedication, and heart for service Janett brings to PCCF and the entire Parke County community. Help us show our Board Secretary some love! 👏❤️

📅 A quick note about our festival week schedule!

While PCCF staff will be working remotely during the Covered Bridge Festival, we will be fully closed on Monday, October 12th, in observance of Columbus Day.

Our team will be unavailable by phone and email that day, and remote operations will resume Tuesday, October 13th.

We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday, and a great Covered Bridge Festival! 🍂

🎓💡 Planting the seeds of giving back early!

This morning, our Grants & Communications Administrator, Amy Edwards, and Scholarships & Outreach Associate, Gracie Taylor, had the opportunity to participate in the North Central Parke College & Career Fair at Parke Heritage High School!

And we got to talk to students of ALL ages! 🙌 From 4th and 5th graders at Rockville and Turkey Run Elementary Schools, to Parke Heritage Middle School 8th graders, all the way through Parke Heritage High School freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Throughout the day, we talked about:
🎓 Scholarships and opportunities after high school
❤️ Giving back to your community
🙋 Volunteering and getting involved
💰 Grants and how PCCF helps fund projects throughout Parke County
💡 And, of course… philanthropy!

Students even got to experience the grantmaking process themselves! Each student had the opportunity to nominate their favorite teacher or school organization to potentially receive a $250 grant from PCCF! 🎉

We’ll draw our winners and make the big announcement after Fall Break, so stay tuned! 👀

It’s almost that time of year again! With the Parke County Covered Bridge Festival bringing lots of visitors (and lots of traffic! 😉) to our community, the PCCF team will be working remotely October 9–18.

🌉🎉 What an exciting addition to Parke County!

We were thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of Depot Bridge, Parke County’s 32nd covered bridge, and the newest section of the Parke Community Rail Trail! 🍂

PCCF is proud to have played a part in bringing this project to life alongside so many incredible community partners, donors, and volunteers.

Projects like this are a great reminder of what can happen when a community comes together around a shared vision. ❤️

Congratulations to the Parke Trails Alliance and everyone who helped make Depot Bridge a reality! Now get out there and check it out for yourself! 👏🌉

These talented local students have been hard at work learning about the history, importance, and future of Parke County’s covered bridges, and turning what they’ve learned into something we can’t wait for you to see! 🌉❤️

We’re so excited to see their creativity come to life and incredibly grateful for the time and talent they’ve put into this project.

But there’s a catch… 😉

You’ll have to be at our 2026 Fall Event on November 7th to see the final product! 🎬
