Main Street Connect

Main Street Connect Creating dynamic opportunities through affordable, inclusive housing and community engagement so people of all abilities can live their best lives.

Main Street Connect, Inc. (Main Street), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is the first community-oriented, affordable, accessible housing solution to redefine the concept of inclusion in a large, vibrant community space within the apartment complex itself. Just steps from a subway stop and adjacent to the town center in Rockville, Maryland, our thoughtful and purposeful member-based programmi

ng breaks down barriers to improve quality of life for everyone, regardless of age, ability or background. We are a mindset and culture of hope and opportunity, meant to flourish beyond Main Street’s walls and inspire a new generation - without barriers, without judgment and with genuine inclusion for all. Apartments

Seventy-five percent (75%) of the 70 apartments in the building are affordable – serving households earning 30%, 50% and 60% of the Area Medium Income (AMI) – and 25% of the units are specifically designated for individuals with varying special needs. Details about the apartments and the application process are available from Main Street’s property management company, S.L. Nusbaum, at LivingAtMainStreet.com. Community Center and Membership

The ground floor of the Main Street building has a 10,000-square-foot community center that includes a fitness center, teaching kitchen, multimedia room and classroom. Together with professional partners, Main Street offers a robust calendar of social, cultural, educational and social programs and events - more than 20 each week! Main Street’s community center and programming are open to residents and to non-residents who join as members. Located at the front of the Main Street building, Soulfull Cafe provides employment opportunities for people of all abilities and an inclusive gathering spot for the community at large.

So much of what happens at Main Street is made possible by the wonderful people who lend their time and talents to our community. 🧡

We are so grateful for our summer intern, Arianna, and one of our most engaged volunteers, Caitlyn. Both have been a tremendous help behind the scenes, including working together to prepare materials for upcoming programs.

Arianna and Caitlyn, thank you for all you do! We’re so grateful to have you as part of the Main Street community. ✨

We are thrilled to introduce Main Street’s first-ever Community Poetry Garden, an online collection featuring original works from 15 members of our community! Many of these poems grew out of the poetry-focused programs held at Main Street in celebration of National Poetry Month.

Now, in collaboration with Beyond the Page, these unique voices and verses have come together in one inspiring collection.

Grab a cup of tea, settle in and explore the Community Poetry Garden 💐https://www.beyondthepagewriting.com/communitypoetrygarden

Summer nights are better together! ☀️🎶 Each month this summer, we’ve gathered for a cookout at Poppy Boy’s Kitchen before heading to Rockville Town Square to enjoy live music, dancing and time with friends at Concert in the Square.

We’ve loved sharing these summer evenings with our community and there’s still one more to enjoy! Join us for the final cookout and concert on Friday, August 28. 💛

A big thank you to Bryan Barnett-Woods, Principal Transportation Planner for the City of Rockville, for joining us at Food for Thought!

Bryan shared valuable information about pedestrian and bicycle safety in Rockville and throughout Montgomery County, helping us learn practical ways to navigate our community safely and confidently. The conversation didn't stop indoors—we also took a walk around town together to put those tips into practice and see our streets through a new perspective. 🚶‍♀️🚲

Food for Thought is all about bringing people together to learn, connect, and engage with the people and organizations that make our community stronger. We're grateful to Bryan for sharing his expertise and spending the morning with us! City of Rockville Government Montgomery County, MD Department of Transportation

Six years ago, Main Street opened its doors with a simple but powerful vision: to create a place where everyone belongs.

Today, that vision comes to life every day. Main Street is a place where friendships are formed, confidence grows, opportunities are created, and people of all abilities come together in an inclusive community.

To everyone who has walked through our doors, volunteered your time, partnered with us, supported our mission, or simply shared in this community—thank you. You are what makes Main Street so special.

Happy 6th Anniversary, Main Street! Here's to many more years together. 💙🧡💚

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Cooking for Balance: An Ayurvedic Food Experience! 🍵🥕✨

We loved spending the afternoon learning from Melissa Maxwell, who shared practical Ayurvedic wisdom on seasonal eating, healing spices, and mindful cooking.

Thank you, Melissa, for sharing your knowledge and inspiring us to approach wellness with curiosity and care. And thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the afternoon so welcoming and engaging!

We look forward to seeing you all at another Main Street event soon! 💚
