It can be difficult to imagine the look in a mother’s eyes when she must resort to extremes in order to provide food for her children. It can be hard to understand their hardships, especially when we have many blessings. My husband and I faced that tragic reality many years ago when we traveled to El Salvador. We witnessed the struggles that many families go through due to a lack of basic resource
s. We saw the face of desperation: families making every effort to provide at least one meal for their loved ones. And yet, we were impressed that in the midst of their suffering, families would welcome us with incredible love and happiness. These precious encounters changed us forever and we couldn’t help but embrace the purpose of reaching out to help them. Once back home, we immediately founded A Look of Love Ministries. For more than seven years now, our organization has been hosting fundraisers, yard sales, and food tasting events. We’ve used the funds to provide, create, and sustain many educational and labor programs. Each one is improving the quality of citizens and families in El Salvador, Argentina, Puerto Rico, and inside the United states (namely in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia). A Look of Love Ministries is working with different pastors, missionaries, and churches by proactively financing the construction of several water wells, sanitary facilities, houses for families without shelter, and the distribution of food. It is a pleasure to work with wonderful people in order to serve others. Children are being fed and are receiving an education. Families are growing their own food and have access to clean water, contributing to a healthier lifestyle. Each of their smiles tells the story of gratitude.
