For the second season, Special Olympics Maryland is offering golf lessons from a golf pro at Willow Springs Golf Course. A grant from the Maryland State Golf Association makes this program possible. The program is open to members of any SOMD Golf Stroke Play athlete. We had one SOMO representative at today’s session.

We had a successful kickoff last week to our revived Golf Skills program a little over a week ago. Many thanks to Head Coach Trevor Davenport for volunteering to lead the program!

It’s a small program in this revival season. Interest was high and we hope to grow the program next year!

Congratulations once again to SOMO’s Advanced Soccer Team for proudly representing Team Maryland and earning a Silver Medal at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis!

A special thank you goes to longtime Head Coach Emily Golden, whose leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment played a vital role in this incredible achievement. This year’s success is especially meaningful, as Emily was unable to join her team at the 2018 USA Games due to pregnancy—making this moment even more rewarding.

This also marks Emily’s final season coaching the team, as she begins an exciting new chapter in Chicago later this summer. She has been an outstanding coach, leader, and friend to SOMO, and her impact will be felt for years to come. She will be deeply missed.

Team Maryland Soccer won their match against California-North yesterday in a close contest. The score was 2-1. Team Maryland Soccer remains undefeated in the 2026 USA Games. Yesterday's win places Team Maryland in today's Gold Medal game versus Florida.
