Watch SOMO athletes at the Special Olympics USA Games starting with Saturday night's Opening Ceremonies when Team Maryland joins the Parade of Athletes.

SOMO's advanced soccer team will represent Team Maryland, but ESPN's plans do not include any soccer coverage. (The World Cup may be tough competition. ☚ī¸) SOMO swimmer Jake Becker is also part of Team Maryland, and ESPN plans extensive swimming coverage on ESPN+

You can find ESPN's USA Games coverage schedule at:

From June 20–26, fans, athletes and on-air personalities will descend upon Minneapolis for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. Representing all 50 states, nearly 3,000 athletes supported by 1,500 coaches will compete across 16 Olympic-type team and individual sports.

We had a fun, successful SOMO Spring Games today. Many thanks to the Landon School for donating the facilities and to all of their students who volunteered to help make the event work. Thanks also to the counties that came to compete. We had over 100 bocce athletes and over 100 track and field athletes in our competitions today. īŋŧ

The right equipment helps you show up.

Meet Ben Collins, a Special Olympics Maryland athlete of 46 years and a full-time employee at Special Olympics International for 34 years. Born visually impaired, Ben has never let that define what he can do. Every day, he shows up fully: at work, on the bocce court, and in life.

At the office, Ben relies on JAWS, a screen reader that helps him manage emails and join meetings, and a Braille typewriter to stay organized and connected, equipment that helps him do his job and do it well.

On the bocce court, Ben listens for a bell to locate the target ball and rolls his way to the podium.

In life, his folding cane helps guide his every step, giving him the freedom to navigate the world on his own terms.

His motto? Don't underestimate me.
