IF WALLS COULD TALK is on display at Glenview Mansion Art Gallery through August 28 and is beautiful, thanks to our members for creating work for this special show to commemorate Glenview’s centennial.

Built in 1926, the gracious, Neo-Classical home on 28 acres is now an elegant event venue for weddings, parties, and gatherings, including the annual car show. Cherry blossoms line the driveway in spring and the gorgeous gardens are filled with flowers, birds and other wildlife year-round. Mrs. Susan Lyon also had a collection of exotic birds. What was it like to have lived here?

Rockville Art League artists present the many aspects of the mansion’s interiors, exteriors, grounds, gardens and gatherings and accoutrements in their portrayal of something that is, was, or could have occurred at Glenview in the last 100 years to celebrate its centennial in this large multimedia exhibit.

If you weren't able to make the opening, come out weekdays, Gallery hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 4:30pm. Please call 240-314 – 8680 or visit the Glenview Mansion website prior to coming over for any unexpected closures.

There is a virtual view on the RAL website but art deserves and needs to be seen in person! It's also a great way to spend a summer day!

Interested in a piece? You can send an inquiry on the virtauls show. You can also read the judge's statement and her comments on the award winning pieces.

On Exhibit: June 28 – August 28
Deadline for Entries: May 29

WANTED: your submissions for the final show of the RAL membership calendar year!

This themed show will celebrate all things Glenview in honor of its centennial.
Members are invited to submit 3 pieces to be considered in the 6 categories of mediums we accept. All styles – representational, non-representational, abstract, realistic, impressionistic, etc.

The work should portray something that is, was, or could have occurred at Glenview in the last 100 years.

Interiors, exteriors, grounds, gardens, gatherings and accoutrements. Beautiful bouquets, cakes and cocktails.
People, art events, car shows, weddings, proms, "Murder at the Mansion", etc.

Imagine what it may have been like to live in such gracious surroundings. What was important to those who lived there? Hobbies? Beloved pets, a piano, books perhaps?

Outside there are gorgeous gardens with so many flowers most of the time! Fountains, statuary, stone archway leading to the gardens below. Trees, glorious trees. All seasons.
Besides the cottage there’s a playground on the premises.

Deer graze on the lawn. A fox runs by. All sorts of birds, perhaps nesting, keeping watch and definitely singing out and maybe there’s even an owl. Happy dogs enjoy a daily walk.

We are honored to have Teresa Jade Jarzynski award prizes for this show.

Please see all details including the calendar in the call for entries on the RAL website and be sure to enter work!

We look forward to seeing your creations and interpretations!
