For the past 10 years, Roberta Broomer has found a home at the Murfreesboro Fisher House. While supporting her father, she’s also walked alongside other families through hospital visits, final goodbyes, and countless kitchen table conversations.

“I have made friendships that transcend age and race. Friendships that will last a lifetime,” Roberta shares.

The Fisher House isn’t just a place to stay. It’s a place where bonds are built, and hearts are healed. ❤️❤️

James and Tammy McGruder have been married for 38 years, and are best friends, partners, and each other's greatest source of strength. Their bond carried them through James' Army career, where he served in the Field Artillery and retired as a Sergeant Major, and it didn't waver when a cancer diagnosis affected his spine, leading to paralysis and months of physical therapy.

"Fisher House was really, really a huge part of my recovery because my wife was and is a huge part of my recovery," James said. "She could stay there and care for me until I went to sleep, and in the morning, when I woke up, she had breakfast that she fixed for me in the Fisher House kitchen."

For the 3rd time, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando will host wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans as they compete and we are proud to once again support the families that stand alongside them.

This is what it means to "Ignite the Spirit", which is the 2027 theme of the Games.
