November is National Family Caregivers Month and is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country. It offers an opportunity to raise awareness of caregiving issues, educate communities, and increase support for caregivers.

Since November of last year, I became the full time/ primary caretaker of my great-aunt after the unexpected death of her son and only child. Left to her own devices while battling an early onset of dementia, it was clear that she needed support. This has been a journey both of joy and pain, gain and loss, but most importantly hope and restoration.

Some days are tough and others are not so tough. I take a lot of hits but there are days when I receive a lot of love. At the end of the day, I have to understand the complexities that come along with battling a brain based disorder. I have to face the reality that one day she won’t remember who I am. But most importantly I have to remember that caring just like loving is not always so easy.

This month is a time to honor and recognize caregivers across the country.

Many caregivers work and also provide care, experiencing conflicts between competing responsibilities ( ACL). While it’s not an easy task, it could be a rewarding experience.

If you know someone who is a caretaker, recognize them this month. Reach out to them. Check in on them. Encourage them to implement self-care and offer support of any kind.

If you are a caregiver, It is important to remember to reach out for assistance and to take care of yourself. This is a work in progress even for me!

Stay sweet and keep caring!❤️

Happy Saturday and Happy November!!

November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month

According to public school data reported to the U.S. Department of Education during the 2018-2019 school year, an estimated 3,604 public school students experienced homelessness over the year. Of those, 297 were unsheltered, 777 were in shelters, 19 were in hotels or motels, and 2,510 were doubled(Halekippa.org).

CPC will be raising awareness on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at the Silver Diner in Greenbelt!

Dine with us and 20% if the proceeds will benefit our programs, such as our Care for a night program.
There will also be door prizes and raffles!🎟

CFAN provides an emergency one night stay in a local hotel or motel to a family with a child 18 years or younger who are recently displaced, while they connect with other services for long term solutions.

This is how we care!❤️

Our Care for A Night Program assist families with children ages eighteen and younger experiencing homelessness by providing shelter in a nearby hotel or motel for one night. The goal of this program is to allow the recipients a night of care and comfort during a time of crisis, along with a night of peace and mind while they link with other services and support networks.

While our service is not a permanent solution to homelessness, The goal of CFAN (see-fan) is to allow our families a safe night off the street.

Hypothermia season is approaching and we want to help as many families as we can, even if it’s just for a night!

If you are interested in making a donation to this cause, please contact us.
All donations are appreciated. No amount is too small when you care.

Meet us at the diner!!🍴
CPC will be running the diner once again in honor of National Homeless Youth Awarness Month on November 9th!

November was first declared as National Homeless Youth Awareness Month in 2007. Since then, November has been a time to acknowledge those children and families experiencing homelessness. As many as 2.5 million youth per year experience homelessness (nctsn, 2022)

We need your support! All proceeds will benefit our First Night Program and Care For A Night Program.

How can you help? It’s simple. Just grab your family ( or come alone) and have dinner with us.
Silver Diner will donate 20% of tonight’s earnings to us!
