to Empower Women in Silver Spring, Maryland with Tech Skils


Enlighten Youth Empowerment Center Inc is a US based 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization raising funds to establish a women computer training center in Silver Spring, Maryland to help unemployed women find jobs and become independent.

Please Donate to help women train in employable computer skills to ensure gender equality and to be independent by narrowing the existing digital divide that prevents them from being employed in tech jobs.
The computer training center will enable them to acquire employable tech skills to economically help themselves and their families to overcome the challenges of poverty. The training will also help poor women to keep abreast with new technolgical developments of time and will ensure our organization's mission of no woman should be left behind in the face of technological advances by helping to bridge the digital divide.

The horrifying and unimaginable conditions in which Ethiopian civilians—children, mothers, women, widows, girls, boys, fathers, disabled, and elderly —are struggling to survive in war-torn regions have been reported in the recent news. As a result of the war in the country, millions of displaced people must deal with an inconceivable tragedy, the fatal dangers of war, as well as the horrors of poverty, disease, and starvation.
Children, moms, young girls, orphans, widows, fathers, disabled, and the elderly are now forced to endure a living nightmare due to the war. Millions of parents are unsure of whether they and their kids will make it from one day to the next without access to food, water, shelter, and medical care.
Ethiopia has truly become the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. The UN Secretary General, Gutierrez, appealed for an end to hostilities and for the world to save lives, calling the violence and damage "alarming" and the price civilians are paying "HORRIFIC."

According to the UN, tens of thousands of people have been uprooted from their homes, and thousands are perishing, with children, mothers, women, girls, boys, and the disabled suffering the most. They urgently require life-saving aid, including food, water, shelter, and medical care. Due to malnutrition, lack of access to food, water, shelter, and medical care, the moms' breastmilk has dried up, making it impossible for them to breastfeed their children.

To save lives, kindly make your donation to Enlighten Youth Empowerment Center Inc (Enlighten Youth Inc). Enlighten Youth Inc will now be providing emergency assistance such as food, water, medical care and shalter to the displaced on the ground to save lives during the first phase of its activity, and will undertake its second phase of work to rehabilitate and sustain the lives of the displaced, and empower them for the long haul.

EYEC WILL PROVIDE ACTIVITY REPORTS AS FOLLOW:

:YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROJECT PROPOSALS IN NEED OF FUNDS.

1.SELF EMPLOYMENT AND SMALL BUSINESS PROJECTS TO EMPOWER POOR AND DISADVANTAGED YOUNG MOTHERS, WOMEN, WIDOWS,GIRLS, BOYS, HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE DROPOUTS.

The beneficiaries included high school and college drop out women, young single mothers, widows who lost their spouses in ethnic conflicts/wars, displaced families from conflict areas, young college and high school drop out young men and women, displaced farmers, and unemployed youth and drought stricken people and refugees.
Self-employment small business projects identified by the beneficiaries during focus group discussions that generate income that would allow them to care for themselves and their families for which they need financial support, seed money or start up capital, skills training and access to banking facilities include among others the following:

a.Micro-credit programs for young women and men
b.Youth Computer Training Center for young women and men
c) Home based small Bakery and food business
d) Home based, Street/ curbside hot Food business
e) Fast food outlet
f) Coffee/tea and Snack business,
g) Health drinks/juice
h) Meal Kits/Prepackaged snacks/baby foods
i) Organic and herbal soap making Business
j) T-shirt businesse
k) Sewing and Alteration business
l) Massage Theraphy etc
m) Driving Skills training for employment

YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROJECT IDENTIFIED BY BENEFICIARIES

I.ESTABLISHING A COMPUTER TRAINING CENTER FOR YOUNG GIRLS AND BOYS INCLUDING PREPARATION FOR CERTIFICATION AND ENTRY LEVELJOBS.

II.PROVISION OF HEALTH CARE AND WELL-BEING PROJECT IDENTIFIED BY BENEFICIARIES.

ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMUNITY HEALTH CARE CENTERS TO PROVIDE HEALTH CARE AND COUNSELING SERVICES TO POOR YOUNG GIRLS AND WOMEN AND YOUNG BOYS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

III. PROVISION OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR SAFE HOUSING SERVICES FOR THE POOR AND DISADVANTAGED AND AT-RISK YOUTH

IV.PROVISION OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR CLEAN WATER SUPPLY FOR THE POOR AND DISADVANTAGED YOUTH

Board
The Board of Directors of Enlighten Youth are dedicated volunteers and avowed professionals in the field of non-profit management, women in development and youth issues, communications/journalism, psychology, health, government, civil society, art, project management, and experienced UN Consultants, journalists, communication experts, and managers in government and non-profit organizations, civil society and IT projects. These experienced members of the leadership team serve as volunteers for our Organization.

PARTNERSHIP

The Center works with youth organizations, women organizations, community organizations, donors, volunteer groups, local government representatives, and advocacy groups to achieve the goal of youth empowerment. The Center undertakes youth empowerment projects through research, training programs, workshops, career exploration, and healthy life styles and leadership initiates. The major programs of Enlighten lay emphasis on poverty reduction and the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
