Rosh Hashanah is one of Judaism's holiest days and begins at sunset on Wednesday. The two-day celebration marks the start of the Jewish New Year and is filled with traditions, like eating a round challah and saying prayers near a body of water.

Filipino American History Month (FAHM) is celebrated in October to honor the history, culture, and contributions of Filipino Americans to the United States

Why it's celebrated in October
FAHM commemorates the first recorded arrival of Filipinos in the continental United States, which took place on October 18, 1587. The Spanish galleon Nuestra Señora de Esperanza landed at what is now Morro Bay, California

How it's celebrated
Communities celebrate FAHM by organizing events to raise awareness about the role of Filipino Americans in U.S. history. Some examples of events include art activities, virtual storytelling, and recipe demonstrations

September 20–26 is National HBCU Week, a time to honor the rich legacy, academic excellence, culture, leadership, and lasting impact of America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities. ❤️💛💚

At Accomplished Literacy Learners, this celebration is especially meaningful. Our Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Terri J. Robinson, proudly began her education journey at an HBCU, attending Delaware State University for her undergraduate studies. 🎓

HBCUs have educated and empowered generations of scholars, educators, innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders—and their influence continues to shape communities across the nation.

This week, we proudly celebrate Delaware State University and all HBCUs for continuing to inspire excellence, opportunity, service, and achievement for generations to come.

✨ Brace yourself for the ultimate nostalgia! completely blew us away with their incredible a-cappella version of the Reading Rainbow theme song. 🌈📚 As a die-hard Take 6 fan , I know world-class vocal arrangements when I hear them, and their harmonies are pure magic. It takes you right back to childhood. They sound amazing!!

📖 Reflecting, Forgiving, and Reading Together ✨

Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is a meaningful time for reflection, learning, and growth. For young children, this holiday offers a wonderful opportunity to talk about big concepts like forgiveness, kindness, and starting fresh.

Reading together is one of the most powerful ways to help kids understand these values! Today, we are sharing a few of our favorite picture books that gently introduce the themes of Yom Kippur:

The Hardest Word: A Yom Kippur Story is a children’s picture book written by Jacqueline Jules and illustrated by Katherine Janus Kahn

Red and Green and Blue and White is a children’s picture book written by Lee Wind and illustrated by Paul O. Zelinsky

Sam and Charlie (and Sam Too!) is a children’s chapter book written by Leslie Kimmelman and illustrated by Stefano Tambellini and William Owl.

July is Disability Pride Month. It's a time to honor the history, accomplishments, struggles and humanity of the more than 1 billion people with disabilities around the globe.

On July 26, 1990, President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). The historic law prohibited discrimination against disabled Americans in all areas of public life. Unfortunately, despite the landmark decision, discrimination still exists. Disability Pride Month helps bring attention to the misconceptions and obstacles that disabled people continue to face and encourages their complete inclusion in our societies.

Whether you are a person with a disability or an ally of the disability community, you can participate in a variety of activities that highlight issues of concern to members of the disabled community.
