For about half a century Archery was not in the Olympics because the USA and Japan couldn't agree on the rules. During that time the Pan Am Games was the height of Archery competition. My Grandfather was a 1951 Pan Am Games Archery finalist. Gramps taught me how to shoot a bow on the banks of the Rock River at his home next to the original Rockton Village of "Pecatonic" My children were my first a
rchery students. Jacob, Madison, and Julie are now all competent archers even with Jacob's cognitive disability, and Julie's Autism. Their success encouraged me to seek further instruction, and to create my own archery lessons company for our community! We specialize in teaching adults and students with disabilities. Archery empowers women, students with disabilities, and non-traditional athletes. I consider School Archery to be the "Breakfast Club of Sports." No other sport offers a chance for the football player, the cheerleader, the band member, the student with Autism, the student in a wheelchair, the blind student, and the student who doesn't usually participate in anything at all an opportunity to compete from the same starting line. Girls are equal to the boys and no matter what color you are you have archery in your history. Over the past few years I have spent hundreds of hours training under past and present Olympic Coaches, Department of Natural Resources Police Officers, and other remarkable archery athletes. I have also had the joy of bringing archery to thousands of students and adults through my weekly archery classes, volunteer work, and Historical Reenactments, Renaissance Faires and even an Exhibition at Burpee Museum in Rockford. Local private archery ranges are located outside of town, and only open to dues paying members. Local achery pro-shops occasionally offer some lessons, but they are primarily in business to sell archery equipment. Hononegah Archery's goal is to show your student how much fun they can have safely with a bow and arrow, and then to improve their skills until they can become an Olympic level competitor, or at least go to college on a full ride scholarship. Our company is designed to be completely mobile and easily set up indoors or outdoors so that community involvement can be held at any local park, back yard, or gymnasium. We are currently seeking additional locations to offer archery lessons for groups of 10 - 20 students during the Summer of 2021. We are looking for access to City Parks or community groups such as Park Districts, YMCAs, Scouting Camps, Churches, Farmer's Markets, Festivals, Carnivals, Reenactments, Renaissance Faires, State Fairs and other appropriate venues. 815-289-2822

Hononegah Archery requested and recieved permission from 2 of Hononegah's Great Great Great Granddaughters to name our group Hononegah Archery.
